There's a bunch of trailers and videos out now including a full 25 minute video explaining the game and it's brand new spankin' engine.

what do you folks think of it, nice or over the top? I thin kit looks amaizing, i'll need to buy a new processor before i cna play it though.

release date is march 2008, so that's soon enough

This is exactly why I made that thread.

Crono, you should have called it "Recently, the video game hype train". The recently threads always seem to do well.

I don't see why this doesn't deserve it's own thread?

Far Cry 2 looks amazing. I love how they're doing the grass and the no-loading-times engine sounds more than promising.

I'm not too sure about the hyper-realism, though. Imagine a stamina bar for walking a 25 kilometer map. It hurts.

Reaver the reason why I made the thread was so it would be a continuous conversation of upcoming games (as opposed to the list fest it was). When the game gets close to coming out, then yeah, I think it should get it's own thread for thoughts and discussion, but until then ... why?

This thread has a serious lack of links.

I remember seeing a Crytek "behind the scenes" vid showcasing a level editor, not sure if it was Crysis or FC2 but it looked awesome. The terrain editing in particular sticks out in my mind, you could push and pull to make actual cave-like indents and the editor would seemlessly add new geometry and fix up textures. Hmmm. How many ways are there to do corrugated sheet metal?

They always claimed to have a totally independent engine. And even if it wasn't - the idea around it is great. More game devs seem to discover Africa as a game setting. It's something you don't see everyday and you can have huge landscapes with interesting rock formations and vegetations.

I'm not sure if Far Cry 2 can deliver on all the things they promised, but even if this turned out to only be a prototype for what is to come for interactive gaming worlds, it's still amazing. I like the freedom.

They initially said it was using a beefed up CryEngine 1. I wouldn't be surprised if they still used CryEngine 1 as a basis for Dunia, considering they've only been working on this game, engine and all, for a year.
