I want to get Vista 64 bit.. I have been holding off because for a while there drivers were a major issue. I have had a 64 bit dual core for some time now.. and been stuck in 32 bit windows VP.
I got my son Halo2 for the PC and it wont run on my machine, but on his new laptop with vista it runs great.. read the box and found out it requires Vista. So I see that being the new standard. I would go with Vista over the Zune.

There is no reason for the 32bit version of Vista to exist. If you want to go with Vista, get 64bit or nothing.
Windows7 will be out this autumn, but whether you want to wait or not is down to you. Functionally there is nothing XP cannot do - RAM handicaps aside, although that makes zero difference for anything you'll be doing (if you were using anything that could remotely benefit from more than 2GB of RAM then you'd know about it and wouldn't be asking).
So flip a coin, it really doesn't matter one way or the other.

That Zune story is hilarious and a good reason to stay away from it.
Personally, I would stick with XP. There are two reasons to go with Vista 64 that aren't canceled out by the negatives: Ridiculous amounts of RAM and a handful of shiny DX10 effects. If I bought Vista, it wouldn't be because of a convincing feature list, it would be because it's the only option available for a bunch of high-end hardware uses. That doesn't feel right.
But my view of Microsoft products might be biased, no matter how good (rather "not-bad") they are. Follow your heart, Scarlett!

Im going with Larchy, flip a coin. Windows 7 is really just Vista with some changes that make vista much better (like the ribbon interface). But windows 7 could take a while to be released.
