Half-Life Big Scientists

for Half-Life 5
by wil5on
Gordon Freeman was originally a researcher for the military (didnt you know that?). His first assignment took him to the Black Mesa Research Facility. His expertise was required for a "situation" that was developing there. Within 2 hours, Freeman was on a transport helicopter heading for Black Mesa.

Little did he know what horrors would await him...

This series of SP maps is based on the Spirit of Half-Life DLL, so it comes as a sort of "mini-mod". Everything you need to play is included.

To install: Create a folder called Bigsci in your half-life folder, and unzip the files into there. I dont want any more ppl overwriting their HL intallation!

Big Scientists is famous! http://www.planethalflife.com/potd/index.asp?id=457806 (I have Vash to thank for the link)

Download link is fixed!

Half-Life [MOD] Standard Proceedures

for Half-Life 0
Beta
This is one of my upcoming mods since my computer got bodged by a virus. I thought since i've started from scratch with HL again i might as well post the news here.

This game is set in a lab in England researching the use of bio-matter in weaponary. This is where the first model of the HEV was tested. I plan to include new enemies and allys (not to mention british scientists :p )

So far only a very small portion of the introductory level is complete but this is my main occupation between my G/F and looking for a job so updates will be plentiful.

Half-Life Escape from Black Mesa

for Half-Life 0
by satchmo
This was my first realistic mapping attempt. It's very small, but hopefully it's still enough to give you a thrill ride.

Objectives:
1. Break out from the jail
2. Find your HEV suit
3. Rendezvous with Barney at the ledge of the cliff

Tips:
1. Use stealth initially and try to get an assault rifle as soon as possible
2. Try to evade the guards by navigating the periphery of the complex
3. Watch your step when you're at the edge of the cliff (you'll die if you fall off accidentally)

The map ends abruptly when you meet up with Barney. I haven't mastered game_text or env_fade when this map was made, but I am not planning to update it anymore.

Half-Life Dark Truths - Epicentre

for Half-Life 0
Beta
ABANDONED; DarkTruths is dead.
Originally planned as a fight for survival in Black Mesa's residential district. Lots of rooftop and crawl-space action, characteristic of Half-Life in general.

Half-Life Nightwatch: Nocturnal Submission

for Half-Life 0
Beta
IN PROGRESS.
As you can tell from the screens, my section of Nightwatch mostly involves mechanical, musty, underground type things. Oh, and don't forget the glorified crate warehouse. Can't get enough of those! :)

Half-Life Isedits

for Half-Life 0
There isn't a whole lot to say about Isedits; we liked to see a credits map for Issues and I offered my services. I tinkled around a bit with, back then, a few mapping techniques new to me and Isedits was the outcome.

Of course, credits go out to Reno for his triangle tutorials.. ;) Another note-worthy fact is that in Faith (my other Issues map) I used cilinders for the rocks, instead of triangles..

Just like Faith, Isedits is included in Issues. So download Issues in order to play it!

Half-Life Faith

for Half-Life 0
Faith was my contribution for the single-player modification / map-pack called "Issues". Issues was meant to be the successor to PQL (Project Quantum Leap) and thus the goal was to have a map pack created by as many different people as possible, to be as incoherent like hell.

Despite the minor amount of publicity, Issues was pretty well received and overall people seemed to like it.

For me personally, Faith was a little experiment; I wanted to see what I could create using just Half-Life textures. Though it turned out to be a pretty OK map, I quickly ran out of inspiration, thus making it visually not as impressive as it could've been.

Despite the problem with inspiration and using just the Half-Life textures, it came out pretty well and people seemed to like it. (Tough some thought the combat was too much.) If you're interested in playing a few interesting Half-Life maps then download Issues. Asides Faith, there are quite a few worthy maps in there.

Half-Life Test Lab

for Half-Life 0
by JFry
Beta
This is a hl sp map pack I have been working on for several months. It is my first map I have seriously worked on.
Unfortunately progress has stopped. I'm not satisfied with some of the layouts and I'm also having trouble adding puzzles at this stage. Kinda bums me out to give up at this point but at least it was a good learning experience.

Half-Life HL: Last Breath

Half-Life TWHLmix

for Half-Life 0
I am here to bring you the newest sensation from TWHL, the incredible TWHLmix.

"So what can this TWHLmix do for me?", you might ask right now.
I can tell you a few details that might arouse your interest.

TWHLmix offers you:
  • 12 different areas, built by ten individual mappers.
  • 2 BSP files stuffed with over 6 megs of entity-, light-, geometry- and texture-data, waiting to be explored by YOU.
  • 6392 direct lights shining on over 16k faces with a total surface area of almost 40k square yards, that YOU can marvel at.
  • 3195 faces that did not make it into the map, to disburden YOUR computer.
  • r_speeds between 60 and 1300, so YOUR graficcard still never gets bored.
  • 99 nodes with a total of 881 connections, to lead monsters directly in front of YOUR gun.
  • more than 30 on-screen text messages, as a refreshing alternation from all the shooting.
  • various monsters sized from a few inches to several yards in height, having the intention to kill YOU.
  • over 7 kilobytes of readme text, so YOU can have fun beyond playing.
"Okay, but that's all just numbers and figures.", is what you probably think now.
You have a right to be cautious.

Maybe seeing how many people have been made happy by TWHLmix so far, can convince you:
  • some random customer: "I like TWHLmix. It's easy in use, it's small in download size and it brought me several minutes of delight."
  • TheBlackViper: "Boring life, nothing to do, then it came, TWHL. My life was changed."
  • Seventh-Monkey: "I liked it, too :)"
  • a cat lover: "I fed TWHLmix to my cats and they liked it very much. I wish there was more on earth that can make my kitten so happy."
"Hmm, but I want more objectivity. Was this TWHLmix tested independently?"
is an eligible question. And I am proud to tell you that it has been reviewed,
all unaffected, by Andy Howard. You can read his article here.

If TWHLmix would not be free of charge,
I would even offer you "satisfaction or money back".

Now if that doesn't convince you, you'll seriously miss something.
