Sprites aren't made in Wally. You need Sprite Wizard. I haven't used it much, but here is a link to the utility.

As to the crashing, sorry, you need to be a bit more specific about the error messages that occur if anyone is gonna help you. It crashes is a bit to broad of a problem.

Also, in the future, please keep editing questions to the editing forum.

without the error message he had when it crashed, its hard to say, but most times it is because you forgot a model.. be sure he has all the relevant files..

there is a small chance it is an entity issue, but i am betting its a model..

post the error message

So it is. I got it from the countermap.counter-strike.net mapping utilities page, a bit out of date but very descriptive about what programs you'll need to map and where to get em. They made it look like they had the file mirrored and I didn't expect their mirror to have gone down. In that case, does anybody know what the current Wavelength url is? Supposively they hosted Sprite Wizard prior to their move.

TBH, if you're just starting, there's no real need to make your own sprites.

you might try a sprite viewer instead.. at least you can see how one looks before you use it.. actually you can view them all prior to placing in hammer..
