for a bit of subtle pimpaging of the snarkpit in your maps, you could do worse than decapitate your opponent with one of these

User posted image

it behaves just the same as the normal sawblade, as shown here

cheers guys, i'm glad you like. i can really only take credit for ripping off other peoples work, though, because it's the original hl2 sawblade, decompiled and tweaked a little, with some text thrown in.

<DIV class=quote>
<DIV class=quotetitle>? quoting Addicted to Morphine</DIV>
<DIV class=quotetext>Where'd you come up with the idea?
</DIV></DIV>

blame gwil for that. the symbol on the not-snarkpit version, the one that Orph likes :sailor: , is something to do with a band or something. gwil asked if i could make a model of the symbol, and the sawblade seemed like the obvious thing to make with it, which led to the snarkpit version. now that i've got all the various bits that i need in seperate files, it should be simple to make a nice assorted collection of blades, so if anyone has any requests....

yay, could you please make a sawblade with "OtZman" on it? Make it in
some cool font, the same one as the snarkpit blade is fine too.

I'd greatly appreciate it. :biggrin:

Def Leppard
Throwing Stars

If your looking for round, I bet Finger could use a "Yin/Yang" version for his new Broken Palace map.

Contact him Fish. He would probably jump on it.

Heh, I made a crystal model for my map mudanchee, ripping the physics code for the sawblade so it sticks to the walls too. :smile:

Fun idea, that Snarkpit logo! How about modelling a snark into it then?

throwing stars, nice one crono. simple enough to make, and with a few different designs could add a nice touch to a map themed along the same lines, as Orph suggests, as Finger's map.

i made one to test out how a smaller size behaves with the phys gun, and it worked out fine. they still do the damage. :smile:

i'll get around to making a few of them, and upload them as a set.

I don't like that batman symbol (Never thought the height of it looked nice ... even in the comics or shows). It is cool though.

I like the one from batman begins most, honestly.

[edit]hmm, it sort of made sense at the time. :/ ah well...

anyway, here's a pic of the set that i'm about to upload. there's 2 new ones there.

User posted image

if anyone is desperate for any more, i'd be willing to consider it, but it would need to be for a map that was in current development.

anyone that's interested in making their own, the qc file only needs an extra line. copy/paste the following just before your collision model data:

$keyvalues { prop_data { "base" "Metal.Small" } physgun_interactions { "onlaunch" "spin_zaxis" "onfirstimpact" "lose_energy" "onworldimpact" "stick" } }

as long as you've made the model flat to the ground, it should work just fine.

Learning the very basics of whatever modelling package you'd be intending to use, would cover far more than I'd be able to write up in a tut. I have tried, but putting it in text is beyond me. :sad:

It'd be nice if someone made a server mode which allowed players to
upload their own saw model as they joined. So that when a player
picked up a standerd saw blade, it would instantly change into their
own design. Think of it like the Batman shirkin. Also it
could be Half-life 2's version of the spray paint in HL1.

But I'm just dreamin.
You know, I've actually got nothing to say

HL2's version of the spraypaint in HL1 is the spraypaint in HL2.
