Hi there I am having a nightmare with a map I am producing it calls for a pitched roof but I can't seem to be able to generate one. I've tried the clip tool and this has appeared to word untill I run the map and then nothing happens. I am pulling my hair out this map is taking a life time to produce... Any help would be greatly appreciated  by the way please excuse any bad spelling....

If it's a triangle shape, just create the brush vertically, then skew it to a midpoint. (click on the brush three times)
Or you could rotate the brush ... but clipping usually makes some funky stuff, I personally skew it whenever possible.
That also allows you to make a cool connector in the middle!
(I'll post an example in a moment)

No, I was suggesting to make a vertical block the thickness and height the roof top point it suppose to be ... then copy it to the other side, then skew them in to meet at the center ... the only hard part is getting them to meet right at the center, but even that is fairly easy ... so easy I decided not to make something showing it. It's pretty straightforward. Even faster and easier than vertex manipulating.

As previously stated, be sure the clip tool actually removed the angle.
Clip gives you 3 options:
1) remove the piece you want.
2) remove the piece you dint want.
3) split the solid along the line of choice.
The red piece will be the chosen piece. Clicking the clip tool button several times during the process shows the results. Do this BEFORE hitting "Enter"
Now, the question's we need to ask is,
1) what tools are you using? Older tools borked clips sometimes. A hall of mirrors can be a result.
2) Are you sure you are clipping along a gridline? If not, errors can occur.
3) Have you jumped up there to be certain the solid is there/gone?
It might help if you:
1) post a pic of the hammer view and the ingame view. (optimized screen of course.)
2) try using the previous suggestions and totally ignoring my post.
Good luck.
