<span style="color: white;">Does anyone still have blurry in-editor icons such as cubemaps or any point_entity
with an icon for that matter, they look really bad in the editor and I
cant even make out the text on the bottem of the entities in the 3D
Viewport. It really pisses me off... If anyone knows how to get the
Crisp looking icons of the old back it would be greatly appriciatted

I noticed this whenever I used Hammer on my father's PC. but he has an old Geforce3.

On my Radeon 9800 Pro, they are a lot better.

Probably due to lower texture memory on the GF3.

Thats the wierd thing, the texture quility in Hammer is really low and the entity icons look horrible, yet I`am running a Radeon X800 Platinum Edition. This started after I switched to the Beta SDK and is still there even in the full relesase. (Thought it was a Beta bug)

There is no longer a beta. Take that beta thing out of your launch options.

Yeah I know theres a full release and that the one I'am using, the blurry icons started when I first swithed to Beta and with the full release I though the problem would be solved, but no luck I`ve tried installing and reinstalling the SDK several time with no luck

And as for a graphics driver bug i`ve updated my drives quite resently and and I still have the problem.

You might need to post a screen of this blurry. I have used hammer since it was released and never noticed anything odd.

3d related methinks.

Drivers=solution?

Funny thing about hammer/worldcraft. EVERY video problem I have ever seen was driver related. I am betting that this is not an exception.

What drivers are you using, and for what card?

Happened to stumble upon this thread:

Doesn't provide a solution, but someone might post one. Seems like others are having the same problem.

Orph, that was my thought at first so I updated and reinstalled my Graphics Drivers and even switched to Third Party Drives (Omega) in hope of solving my problem, but with no gold  I'am running a Radeon X800 Platium and am currently running the Omega Drivers latest release.

The weird thing is I installed the SDK on my brothers computer which is running an Nvidia Geforce 5200 and he has the same problem  ...yet its noticably worst

Otzman, those others that are having the same problem is me...

1st off, I have not had good service from Omegas drivers in about the past two years. I suggest you stop as well.

Secondly, in spite of what you may have heard, drivers are fickle. You absolutely must remove the last set prior to installing the new ones.

Uninstall them, use this program to get the last bits then reboot and install the newest normal drivers you can find.

Do this and get back to me.

I've this problem too. Is there some sort of config file for hammer that adjusts the texture quality etc.? I've looked everywhere for such a file but I don't think it even exists.
Valve would probably have it fixed soon anyway, so just wait.

I fixed mine by reloading the sdk.

And by reloading I mean manually delete the gcf, and all files in the sdk directories, and redownloading from scratch.

Drastic, I know.

Try changing your graphics settings for windows(you are using windows, right?)

properties>>settings tab>>advanced

then adjust the performance/quality bar(I don't know where it is for
Omega drivers) to each of the extremes, and note the change(s)...if any
Also change the texture of the dock. Docks are rarely tile. -Facepunch
