I am having trouble exporting weapons from one game to another (counter strike: source to Half Life 2). Anyone know a solution?

I'm so glad I've never worked tech support. I can't imagine having to deal with people who describe problems like this full-time.

Sorry, I was not very specific.

Well anyways, I used a program called GCFScape to copy files belonging to counter-strike:source weapons. So far I have six different types of files (dx80.vtx, dx90.vtx, .mdl, .phy, .sw.vtx, .vvd).

So here are the problems:
-do i have all of the files i need?
-do i need to compile/ decompile them?
-where do i put these file at?

thanks!

the weapon models have none of their characteristics built in. all they really are is eye candy. whatthey appear to do (accuracy, rate of fire, damage type, etc.) is all written into the game dll's. this means that even if you do get a model from cs:s into hl2, it won't be able to do what it did in cs:s.

the files you mentioned are enough to get the model to appear, so you could port them for use in a gun case, or some other non-usable setting.

how do you do that?

because i also had trouble putting different models into half life :2.

An example would be the models you made:

i downloaded the files, but i just don't know what to do with them.

also, would you know which .dll file contains the guns' characteristics (accuracy, rate of fire, damage type, etc.)?
thanks!
