I've downloaded (from counter-strike.net) Steam, but, how I can play CS 1.6, beacuse Steam isn't the MOD, is it?

Explain what you're doing when you try to play it first. Really, the only answer we can give at the moment is "install steam, go the games menu and play counter-strike".

You download CS1.6 using steam I believe, if you go to a game and try to play it says it needs an update then a few hours later it'll start. BE WARNED THOUGH! The steam folder often gets to be a gruesome 4gb or so in size after a while....

CS would be good if it wasn't for the community being full of cheaters, whiners who accuse people of cheating when they start losing, script kiddies who think they're the greatest "hax0r" ever, and of course the all-powerful veteran who plays CS way too much and kicks EVERYONE's arse.

And the extreme fan base...

One guy killed another guy at a Cyber Cafe in LA with a screw driver, when ingame Counter-Strike trash talking went too far.

What's wrong with being the all-powerful veteran who has no life except cs and kicks everyone's arse? I find it amusing how people think of excuses for me owning them ... some of them are quite imaginative, but most common is just "omg bs hax omg lolololol hacker go away omgomgomg " etc

:D

CS has more script kiddies and "hackers" than most games, and some of the players are quite aggravatory, possibly because they're frustrated or something. meh.

CS is a fun game, as long as you stay clear of bad people and hax0rz

Why do so many ppl complain about awp ??? its awesome!! i would scout but awp is much more satisfying. but perhaps, make the clip smaller like 5 bullets

I'm just playing Cs from time to time to keep my aim up for other mods, like TFC and so.

Oh, come now. Hackers get such a bad rap. Have you even tried cheating? Dear God, it's not easy, I can tell you that much. First, you have to find all the OGC.exe's on Kazaa which aren't viruses that flash goatse pictures all over your screen. When you're actually ingame, half the hacks won't even work, and half of them work shoddily - some of them even make the game harder - and yet more of them just flash the goatse picture all over your screen.

Try it some time. Find a '24/7 1337 DUSTZ0r!11!!1!' server, whip out the Trout knife model, and run about with a 30x speedhack shanking every which way, while at the same time loudly declaring that random members of the opposing team are using 'leet owns' to kill you while spouting vaguely coherent commands like 'BOGEYS IN THE TREES!' on your mic. Your life will change forever.

Not to the annoying, unbeleivable extent that the CS community offers you. Every CS game I played there was always one of these people. The only mod I play nowadays is Natural Selection (and really is the only mod worth playing anymore in my opinion), and I meet these sort of people rather rarely.

And yes, the AWP is way too powerful for it's own good. It may be slow and heavy, but that's no excuse for giving people the chance to whore it, camp and wipe out everyone on the map. Plus it's annoying when you run into a room, and some guy who's camping in the shadow smacks you and you don't even hear him fire the gun, it's just unfair. Literally.

Cassius- I do believe that is the single funniest thing I've seen/heard this week.

I am so going to start yelling "BOGEYS IN THE TREE'S!" the next time I play.

Yes. The best way I've done it is in a 2v2 playing on some map with a treeline - After spending about five minutes shooting in random directions and screaming 'WOAH s**t WE GOT HOSTILES RAMBO!' to my teammate in order to scare the s**t out of him, he told me to get serious. I led him outside and started shooting at the treeline, yelling 'BOGEYS IN THE TREES!' and to my surprise, he started shooting at the trees too. Then I was banned from the server.
