I know there is a way to turn models into doors.. but I cant seem to locate any tuts online.. I did at one time but forgot to bookmark it.. can anyone give me a link to a tut, or an easy way to use a model door as a func_door or func_door_rotating?

Thanks for all the help.. Even with out it, I happened to find a good link that gave me good info, ( Well the wife did anyways. ) I am now making a model to be used as a func_door.

Its really sad to see a site that was so excited about map creation and helping others become this. How do we get it back? I still love this place over other sites, but when did they become the authority and we become the joke? ( as mentioned in another thread ) This was the original.. this was the place to go.. now people come here and go days, weeks with out a reply.. why is that? And if they do get a reply its by Aaron_Da_killer.. who should not feel the weight of keeping this alive all on his own.

Snarkers were the cream of the crop the people with insight and answers, Mapper though and though.. when did you all stop?

Yeah man, I hear you muhnay. Sometimes, I think I should just loosen up a bit and maybe create threads or post replies that I probably normally wouldn't on other sites, but than all you see is a wall of replies by me that aren't even that good and seriously, who wants to see that? That'd be a turn off for sure.

The problem is we have very little talent left, not much awesome shit is being poured out anymore. Am I the only one here who wants to be in the games industry or one of the few who still regularly do this stuff? Alot of the folks have left and you need alot of active members for a forum to be self sufficient and nobody to feel like they are keeping the site alive, because honestly, I have felt like I have been before, and I can probably count the number of members on one hand who also feel like they are keeping the site alive or are trying to start a fire (me, muhnay, tnkqwe, flynn a bit lately and Riven).

I know alot of the now inactive members haven't died or their computers haven't blown up because I still see alot of them on the steam community group frequently.

And to be honest, I don't really find the gentlemen behind this site to be very responsive at times, I mean you can't blame them, but I look on other websites and the community is maintained very well. The people looking after those websites are constantly posting, answering questions, coming up with new fresh ideas and keeping the community informed which is quite important. I mean, Snarkpit just want through a major change, all paid for by Gwil not sure if he owns the site now but anyway.. that was extremely generous.. my point is, people are looking after the greater good of Snarkpit, but maybe.. I don't know, who am I to complain?

Now, somebody move this thread to general banter!

Oh, and I was going to help you muhnay but you've got a link now ;).

Well, then I suppose I'll reply with something!

-You don't think this is the right place for this topic? -I think it is...
Besides, I can't move topics; that's a job for the man upstairs.

The site still gets regular visitors daily, if not hourly. I'll admit, I don't like to post a lot unless it's something I KNOW about or feel really confident in admitting to the rest of the world about. -Because of that, I don't make many posts, but I still visit the site every day or so. Beyond that, when I do make my posts, I like to be very consistent and accurate with my details so as not to offend anyone and or spread false info. So, I trade quantity with quality and take a really long time doing it. -And that's how I roll :pimp:

I dunno 'bout all that. I think it looked like a simpler question than it was, "how do I make a door"

Besides that I have frequently found myself waiting 45-60 seconds to log in, and have given up a few times

Ahh but haymaker it it was not as simple as how do I make a door.. brush doors are easy, hell easier now with the new tools. The question is how to you make a func_door with a model, not a brush. That my friend is a bit harder to do, and more time consuming than one would think. But I am sure as it becomes second nature to me, I may have the same approach as you do here, and go oh I didn't reply because its beneath my skill level.. F'in noob.. On Second thought, I don't think I will be like that because I maybe an asshole, but I am no jerk.. and I do tend to like to help people when I can. Now if I don't know I will do some research and try to reply with what I found, because it not only helps them but me as well. I should say, I am not calling you a jerk.. I am just saying if something is easy for you, and hard for someone else and anyone refuses to reply based on that then they are a jerk. We all start some place, and we all have different areas of expertise.. and skill sets. There should never be a question so easy that we cant take the time to try and answer.. on the other hand there are some here who ask questions and demand answers.. those people in my opinion deserve to be ignored.

Aaron, my son is 15 and he wants to be in the game industry as well.. I think I am too old now to get in.. besides if I did, many of you kids would be all like "Hey Old man.. programming for the Atari 2600.. KEKEKEKEKEKEK." Or what ever it is you kids use for laughter these days.. LOL. I think its cool you want to do this sorta thing for a living, when I was a kid I did too.. but it was not as easy to do.. there were no college degrees, or hell support to go into this field.. so I wish you much success and remember the little people when your famous. =)

Yeah Riven it does, but none of them post.. none of them ask questions or give feed back. Trolling is nice and all.. but we need activity.. ideas floating and sharing.. it makes us all better. I have really gotten into this modeling thing with the wife.. it has taken my mapping ideas to the next level.

Isn't it the entity prop_door_roating?
