This is a a discussion topic for the map "dm_balcony" by reaper47 which can be found here

Map description:

Beta 4 is out!

Changelog:

- repositioned the spiral staircase once again, to hopefully be the least annoying

- final pass of detailing

- further vis optimization

- made smaller prop_physics non-solid to player movement

After some of my recent maps grew way out of proportions, I tried to do something smaller, something simpler this time. A HL2DM map that just works. There's plenty of vertical movement with balconies and rooftops to jump around. Some tight close-quarter fights as well as larger and more free areas for quicker movement. Once you found the RPG, watch out for a sparking power-box, shooting it will electrocute anyone standing on the little white roof.

I was browsing my control panel and noticed this map still being officially "beta", so, because it's a) very easy to finish and I b) really feel like getting a map "done" to a final version, I spent an hour or two polishing this one up.

I don't like throwing out a final version with zero testing, so I'd really appreciate any of you downloading my "finished" version and checking for any fugly, hidden bugs (I would send anyone interested a download link, but no official, public one yet). Otherwise, I'm done with feeback-gathering, thanks to anyone who helped!

Changes are mostly cosmetical, but it wouldn't be the first time that I saw a single polygon crashing a map on every Linux server...

Sorry if I created a duplicate thread, btw, I'm just starting to get accustomed to the new and improved control panel. :)

Awww, I missed you too, guys! :) grouphug

Juim, Riven... I'll PM you in a minute for the files!

Muhnay, I can send you the VMF file, if you want to do the compiling, as I don't feel capable of getting the CSS entity work right. Please do not give away the source files to others (especially, without asking me first) and mention me as the creator of the original map in a TXT file, should you distribute the map.

Hey Reap, map looks real good. I could find no glaring omissions or even small boring ones. I'd say this is definitely ready for release. All in all in my honest opinion, this is really a very sweet mid sized map. The layout, brushwork, texturing and lighting are all top grade. Nice to see someone actually putting the "finished" moniker on a map(hint:Haymaker!).

Yeah, I ran through this map a day or so ago shortly after I received the link, couldn't find anything that needed to be added or improved. It could be released as it is now imo. Nice map Reaper47, I'll write a little review once you officially declare this released ;).

Done. Map is finished! No turning back.

The official download link should lead to the final version! Those who received the test-BSP, please overwrite it now.

And Muhnay, go ahead! Can't wait to see whether this works out for CSS!

Hey mate, just wanted to say congratulations on getting this finished. Its been quite a project, especially for one you intended on being small and straightforward to begin with :D Rather embarassingly I don't even have HL2DM installed at the moment, or much else for that matter, so I can't very easily take a look :( Glad you got it out the door though, looks like you've done a good job :)
