Map's up! who wants it?

There were six "leaf portal saw into leaf" errors. two in money's section, two in Hornpipe's section, one in CJ's section, and one in mine. I fixed the one in mine, and marked the other five with sky brushes. I will include the log file when I send off the map so that the authors of those sections can easily locate the errors.

Also, Money, CJ and Horn need to use more visblocking between their areas.

My section my need to be toned down, as I have w_poly peaking at ~ 1100. Plus I have 9 func_trains, which seem to be bogging down in multiplayer mode sigh

I will include the .rad file I have used with the .rmf so just add to it as needed people.

So TB, you added your section in as well? Cool. Alright the map should go to all the mappers formentioned, MS, Horn, CJ. Then once the leaf portals errors are fixed, send it my way, I'd like to add in my part... Finally.

How the crap did errors get back into my section? You sure you have the right names? Methinks you should take a screenshot of the top view of the map so far and we can mark out whose section is whose.

EDIT: If you mean the section with all the curved pipes, that's Sinner_D's. I've got the big pool with the two troughs, and the crates...

Also you probably shouldn't give me the map again, I've since formatted to Linux and can't run Hammer any more.

You're right Horn. I meant Sinner. your section is actualy the only one without an error. your vis-blocking is also very good :smile:

I'll just send it to whichever of the afore mentioned mappers posts first. However, if they don't within a few days, I'll just send it to you WC, or Skelator. I think I will put up a small s**tty page with all of the recources and links in my pit, and then just PM everyone the adress.

Wow some new additions since I've last seen it. Cool :smile:

Whoever put in the big vertical thing. 4 things:

1. I hope to god the R's are ok;
2. Good job on adding some vertical play;
3. WTF is it? really? lol, looks really wierd;
4. Good job on the connectivity.

I'ma add in my part where I see it will be best and then send it off to whom ever wants it.

The vertical part is mine, and yes the r_s are high. I think they top out at ~1150. I know that is really pushing it, so I may have to tone down the area at some point down the road.

It is a crate maker :biggrin:

I figured with all that molten metal and toxic waste flowing around the map I should do somthing constructive with it. the creates come out the bottom and leave on a conveyer belt, so if someone wants lots of metal crates in their section, it would be a perfect tie in :lol:

Note however, that all those moveing parts were acting sort of wierd when I loaded the map in multiplayer. if they lag the map I may have to simplify everything.

seriously though, compile the map and have a look. I'm really very proud of that monstrosity.

Ha ha, an automated crate factory. That's really cool. You have easily shamed my boring little section on the side, congratulations.

Perhaps players who jump in the top could come out the bottom... inside a metal box? A quick trigger_camera switch to show the exit long enough to see a single metal box come out, and some bloodspray out the bottom door. Or do you already have a teleporter at the top?

There is a teleporter that brings you to the bottom from where I brought your sewage stream in. somtimes it frags you, sometimes not. Yours sounds like a very good idea though. I wouldn't worry about your section Horn. I may have to do some major revision to make mine playable, I don't know yet.

-Sinner. You won't see the errors in a check fro problems. all I got in the compile were "leaf portal saw into leaf" errors, which could be anything. I placed sky brushes at the aproximate loacations of the errors. I also posted the log file on that page so you have the precise x,y,z location.

Yes your rotor things are really blue like that. I didn't change anythign though so I don't know why.

I started to make my part in there. It's connecting to MS's section via that small rusty door, to TB's section via both the control room stairs and the mid floor, and its connecting to whom ever's section has that little outdoor bit (not yours horn) via that metal garage door thingy.

Each of my connecting points are vis-blocked to as to not cause any R problems.

Give me a lil while and I'll have it done.

Check the lights.rad file and make sure none of your textures are emitting blue light for some reason. Or, check the RMF and make sure nobody stuck blue lights in there just for the hell of it...

Ok so if u guys know what exactly would need to be done to fix such probs, please step forward.

error1 is located somewhere between those 2 blocks highlighted in the pic.

error 2 was kinda tricky, but i would say start searching around the highlighted sign, that seems to be the source of the prob.

error3 is smack dap right in the middle of this section of pipe.

as for error 4, i put that block there only to show in the pic where the error was pointing to, so for some f**ked up reason, we got an error WAY off in the midle of space...lol

i have 2 errors in myn, one of them there was no objects in the coordinates it gave me(error6), so im stumped there, the other was near my pipes, but not the pipes themselves(error5)...YAY.

on another note...TB do you have brasso's textures? i have it, im not sure where i got it though...lol ill send ya pm.

Sinner, Where the hell is my section man? is that the newest .rmf? that block you have marked in the middle of nowhere is where my section is suposed to be! in any case, I already fixed it, I just didn't recompile so it is still in the log.

in case people are unaware, there are two distinct ways to fix one of these leaf errors.

1. turn the offending brush into an entity

2. rebuild the brush with simplified archatecture

these are the only ways I know of to deal with the problem. in general, very complex brushes should be func_walls anyway, depending on their size ect..
