Hey all it's me, :leper: Half-dude

Ok, when I load up WC and make a map I'll go to the textures button/window and that's when it happins, the background of the window has smeard textures and odd lines, Sometimes textures even over lap or turn inverted!

I just wanted to know if there was a way to fix that, I noticed that the overlapping started when I got the q3evil.wad I always warned me that some of those textures were "larger then expected" I dont know if thats cousing the overlapping or not.

I believe the evil wads contain some lextures with dimensions larger than 256, the typical halflife limit. They're converted quake 3 textures, so that's why. I'm not familiar with VHE's texture browser, but I'm willing to bet total size of the wad is somewhat affecting what you see. Does the same thing happen if you only have a few small wads loaded, like say liquids.wad?

I know someone that has overlapping textures like that, and they only have gfx, liquids,hl,decals and xeno.wad
Maybe the resolution causes it?

Simple answer, I've had this before:
  • Too many textures results in overlapping. Try loading all the HL wads and then the opposing force ones and you'll see what I mean
  • Inversion of colours is just a bug that occurs when scrolling through the textures. Just click on a texture once and continue scrolling and you should be fine

It's down to graphics card memory problems, I think...

If you type something into the box at the bottom of the window, itll only show textures that contain what you typed. Fewer textures to display, no more overlapping.

at the bottom of the textures page, you have the option of changing how the textures are displayed..

1:1 1:32 1:64 or some such like that..

change the settings, and it will be ok.

i used to map on a k62 400 with a voodoo banshee card, a very sissy PC by todays standards, and other than an issue with over-excelleration, i had no troubles mapping.

WC 3.3 will run on almost any PC, as long as you have decent drivers, and its setup for your system.
