This is a a discussion topic for the map "aim_scout" by Madedog which can be found here

Map description:

Small, fun map. Meant to play couple of rounds in mapcycle to cool down some feelings. I created a nice skybox :) Gives a "hilly" feeling. Nothing special in that map, just a quick, fast, aim map.

The walls are flat and single textured, make them more interesting, same with the grass, put some displacements in, the pillar things seem quite small for an aim map, barely covering the player. Can you go in the house?

Hey - not all maps are supposed to look realistic and displaced etc, I just wanted to make a simple, small, cool map with fast cameplay :) Not some faghouse... no, you can't go into the house.
It was just a 15 minutes of work, I enjoyed playing it and thought perhaps someone else would, too.
Anyway, I'm not going to fix that map, it will stay as it is, so hold back your criticism. I know how to make a good map, but that's a simple map, no need to blow the size of the map up.

It reminds me of a paintball field.

Ok, someday I'm gunna have to make a website, or more lazily- a post- explaining mapping. We at Snarkpit understand your requirement for the gameplay, the way its meant to be simple etc- but tbh thats a poor excuse for being crap. You could quite happily have the same gameplay with far better visuals than you have made. When people diss aim maps etc, more often than not its not the gameplay, but the piss poor ugly map itself and lack of attention and dedication to making the map... I could quite happily do an old cs map trick- make a cube, use the same texture everywhere then start a riot saying its all about the "gameplay"- its no excuse.

Yeah... Agree... make it all the same texture and tell it's about gameplay :)

hey - I already told you what this map was just all about... to have fun, not to have eyecandy. If I wanted to give eyecandy, I would probably have done it not for 15 minutes but perhaps 4 times longer. That's it.

All you had to do was make the pillars more interesting and displace the grass which would have taken 5 minutes and your map wouldnt have been criticizes as harsh. Please for future maps, take the extra 5 minutes

Also, if you wanted to make such a bad "fun" map, you shouldnt have used the name aim_scout, USE A LESS COMMON NAME. that way people with real skill can post thier "GOOD" maps without people saying they stole your name. the end
