Whenever I try to play sounds with a ambient_generic it always give me this error:

Error: server failed to transmit file 'sound/C'

I have tried a number of sounds(all from half-life's .PAK under ambience)and all of them have given me this same error. As always if needed I can provide more info. Thanks for any help :)

Do you have a folder in your sound folder named C? And did you extract the .PAK and THEN chose a sound in the file browser?

No I don't have any folder named C in my sound folder, I actually thought that had to do with where it was because its in my 'Local Disk (C:)'. Also, yes I did extract them first before browsing to them.

I don't have the editor set up so this is gonna be some scattershot trial and error.
I can't remember which way the slash is supposed to be or if you need to add the filetype.

I think you'd put this ( ambience\\alienwind2 ) [no brackets] into the sound field in the ambient_generic to play the sound 'alienwind2.wav', located in valve\\sound\\ambience\\

However, it could also be:
ambience\\alienwind2.wav
ambience/alienwind2
ambience/alienwind2.wav

Try these and report back the results! :) (and make sure to say which one is right if one works)

put whatever sound you are trying to use into your cstrike/sound folder
so you may have to extract it from a gfc
