Hello,

I'm not sure if this is the right forum or place to ask. I tried the contact button on the main site, but I haven't received an reply to that.

I'm looking for an site owner/admin regarding a contest we're trying to set up. Could someone please sent me in the right direction?

Thanks in advance.

I would contact RIVEN.. he seems to handle that sorta thing. Look forward to hearing more about it. Or you could just post the idea and see where it goes. Good Luck!

I'll do that. Thank you!

The idea is to hold a contest and inviting different communities to participate from all kinds of games who's levels are build using brushes. Games like Half Life, Quake, Jedi Knight, Unreal, etc.

I'll post more when I discussed this with Riven.

Why not have an open discussion in this thread? If it picks up steam, then it'd make sense to talk to Riven about making some official announcement on the matter (or of the communities participation).

That would make sense to me, anyway.

I will get back with you about that soon! -And a couple of news posts need to be made, so that's on the list too! Thanks for contacting us!

I did not mean to rush you. It's just that I have bad experiences using those forms so I wanted to be sure the message got through.

@everyone: regarding the contest. It's a revival of a contest cha0s held a few years back for Quake 3. The idea is that you can only use 20 brushes or patches to create a playable map. The rules are:
  • max. 20 visible brushes
  • max. 10 Visible patches in place of a brush (eg. you can use 16 brushes and 4 patches)
  • max. 5 custom textures
  • no map-models or custom sounds
Game mode is up to the mapper.

I'm trying to get multiple communities to partcipate and get a judge from each community. So far I've been in contact with the Quake and Unreal community and ofcourse with you all. There's no grand prize expcept for the creative challenge and being called the winner out all those who participate.

We are organising it to celebrate the opening of leveldesign.nl. Which is an community effort to try and create an source of information regarding the topic and regardless of engine or game. Just the profession in a whole.

Yeah.

On a side note:

Negotiations with different communities are taking longer then expected. So in the mean time, if your interested in the contest and want to be updated, you can check this forum.

We are currently discussing the rules of the contest. Future announcements will ofcourse be posted here.
