Hi everyone,

So, just like the title says, A certain website (ld4all.com) doesn't work anymore. When I enter the link it goes loading for like 15 seconds and then says the site takes too long to respond.

What I do know so far:

It isn't an issue from the website itself: I recently got an email saying that I got a new PM on that website (meaning others can actually visit it), and on a "Website status... site thingy, they said the last time that the site was overloaded was back in 2010.

It isn't an issue in my computer: Yesterday I formatted my whole C:\ Drive and I re-installed Windows XP, and the problem still remains.

I figure it has something to do with my router, but I wouldn't know what to do.

Also, the site does not work on my PSP either.
It doesn't work since like 4 days ago.

Any help will be much appreciated.

EDIT: Additional information that might help: I am using a router (Sweex LW050) and it is used by 2 computers by cable (if I'm not mistaken) and by some others via wireless.

I also know how to get into my router with my internet browser.

Are you using something like this to speed up your connection?:
http://labnol.blogspot.com/2006/09/speed-up-your-internet-connection-with.html

If you are, remove it, thats your problem.

No?

Tried calling your internet service provider?

Either way it sounds like there may be a problem with the ISP's DNS servers. Their records might be old, and its directing you to another IP address when it resolves the name "ld4all.com." These should be constantly updated no matter what by your country's internet infrastructure.

A work around:
1) Reconfigure your router:
-Turn it off (and the modem if you have it), and leave it off for 5 min. That should allow your router/modem to get a new IP/Subnet/DNS servers from the ISP
-Reset your router to factory default settings (but read my last comment first), and then re-enter your ISP set up information.

2) You can try using a proxy server:
http://technicalbliss.blogspot.com/2007/04/how-to-use-free-proxy-with-firefox.html
but I don't really recommend it because proxy's fall in and out of service sometimes.

3) You could try using a different DNS server:
http://code.google.com/speed/public-dns/
But the problem with this is your having a computer on the other side of the world look up information for you, so it would be slow. That and unless its a reliable service (like google), the DNS records might not be updated.

What I think should be done:
Call the ISP, and have them check that domain to see if there is a problem. That domain works for me on my computer, and im Comcast. Really though there shoudln't. If they say its being blocked you can get around it using #2

Woah, that actually did it! I hope it'll keep working too, but I found one that 'is said to be' 100% of the time active.

If I ever get any more problems with it, I'll try the other things you've mentioned. But thanks a lot! Got to get my dream journal up to date now :p

If, sometime in the future, I hear anyone else with the same problem as I did, I'll refer to this post.

Just be careful. If the proxy server you use is taken down, your regular surfing will stop.

If for what ever reason your "internet" stops working, just remove the proxy server settings in your browser, so in theory you could surf in IE while firefox would be "broken" (not really broken, but that it just couldn't find the proxy server).
