I was wondering if the PIT has a twitter or facebook page? May want to get one just to help drive attention to the forum.Besides Social media seems to be all the rage these days. Speaking of Social Media, I have some Google+ invites if anyone wants one.

Good topic.

I must say I've seen this coming for a while, and ultimately may have to succumb to it eventually. I don't have a problem with SnarkPit having a Twitter or Facebook presence, I just don't want to be the one to do it (let alone worry about it). But I'll say this much: as owner of the site, I'm ill cut-out to be the one that represents the SnarkPit on Twitter or Facebook.

I don't care for Facebook personally, I don't agree with the terms of use and of course the method for organizing contacts and whatnot, but regardless, I don't see a problem for an organization to have a FB page. Again, I don't want to be the one to do it.

Second, for Twitter, I believe in quality over quantity, and I just don't have or I'm not able to conjure up enough interesting things to say to warrant a Twitter account for myself, let alone SnarkPit. The front page news might be evidence of that I imagine.

So ya, I'm not against either of those propositions, I just don't want to be involved in them I guess. If someone wants to take that 'job' up, be my guest and I can give you a bunch of images to use to promote the site, or eventually one day, the site could integrate with it. But as of right now, it would need to be someone I trust to not slander or give mis-information about the site over those outlets, because I sure as heck won't be bothered to police them. It's beyond my realm of interest TBH.

I'm glad you brought it up because these are busy hubs of activity that deserve attention from the SnarkPit, and could be beneficial as you said, to drive attention to the forums.

You have asked me to stay and help.. I will be happy to look into and promote the site from those vantage points if you like. I think it could be beneficial to the Snarkpit site and its membership. we can discuss it more if you like, or we can see who all would be willing to devote time and energy to these endeavorers.

Of the active people, the only ones I'd trust would be Aaron or Crollo.
I've kept up with their facebook stuff and both of them seem capable and mature enough to be Snarkpit poster boys.

I am sure there are others on FB, but I dunno anything about them so I am not comfortable speaking for them. They are however welcome to speak up.

Aaron and Crollo have both shown that they can handle SP stuff.

If its up for a vote, they have mine.

I have a fb page that I think I've been on about a handful of times in two or three years. I can't get into all the jabbering my friends and relatives do back and forth.
It seems my wife and kids spend hours on it, I guess it's a good way to keep in touch but it feels like you spend forever on it. Guess I'm just becoming one of those crotchety old men being left behind by technology!

I'd say build a script that runs every 12 hours and summarizes the RSS feeds. And then also allow certain people to have access to posting on the Twitter and FB accounts (should get a Google+ account now too)

But, for news, articles, and maps, you can easily automate it.

I could look into it if you like. What does the SP server support language wise?

Putting the obligation of the entire thing on one person whom's already busy is actually very unfair to them.
Blame it on Microsoft, God does.
