Hey, guys here's some news on Dota 2.

http://www.dota2.com/

It's the BIG reason I didn't get a whole lot of pics and stuff at Valve when we were out there this time. They were real busy and I didn't feel it was the right time to ask to wander around and get that done. They were making a big push to get the game in playing shape for this championship tournament. Adding last minute content and such. I believe every cabal there was working on Dota 2 to get it ready from the looks of it.

They had an internal Dota 2 tournament at Valve between cabals and some specially invited Dota players from around the area. I got to watch one match, with an announcer broadcast, which was WAY cool.

I would suggest if it is possible to watch and listen to it when they start it.

The BIGGEST reason though was our granddaugther. :D We'll be going out again in October so maybe then I'll get more then. :)

Defense of the Ancients.

It was a mod made out of WoW.
It was so popular Valve bought it to make this sequel I guess you'd call it.
It's kinda of a capture the flag, kick your opponents ass, break all his stuff and burn down his house thingie.

Im surprised blizzard isn't suing. Those dota characters look very similar to WoW's heros.

What I saw of it it's like playing from a WoW or Warhammer 40k prespective. I don't know for sure if you can change the view or not. I don't beleive it will be pay to play (but could be wrong)it will be just like most steam games were you can just join a server.

Hmm, pretty interesting. I don't know if it's for me. I get the idea, but I'm not familiar at all with the game. Also the theme isn't necessarily up my alley, but I watched a couple of those matches they posted. It looks like it holds a lot of strategy and gameplay.

I might try it out to see.

When are they NOT busy? -I'm guessing never, or right after shipping a title. ~o)

Either way, I'm hoping to at some point in 2012 make my way up to visit Valve! I can't wait! :hee:

This isn't (btw) a planned or guaranteed trip, I'm just really hopeful right now :p

Ya, sure, but This will be the first year I may actually afford it and have time to go. (not to mention I plan on moving there as well, so this is kind of a bundled thing) :p

Well if you do move there you won't regret it if you don't mind cloudy misty weather (it's not all that bad). It is very beautiful there.
The game almost takes a stable team group effort to play, it looks like just grabbing some guys and playing it might be tough. A little too crazy for me though.
Here's a pic of our new grand daughter.

Nice swag there. And even nicer Baby!

I watched some of the 45 min tourney gameplay videos they have posted and it looks like it might have that L4D coop syndrome of finding the right team. If you try to play online without friends and hope to get paired up with random individuals of the same 'ranking,' then I don't imagine it would be quite as fun.

I imagine it's gonna be one of those close friend sort of games. That the best part about it will be when you're playing with good friends, and the rest might fee blah.

I could be wrong though, that's just my speculation. :nag:

I think it is a team play game where you need a steady group to learn each others techniques and abilities.
Game is cool but i prefer just mowing down the enemy and keep going
