Back in the day, Crysis was the game of choice for benchmarking your machine. What game or games would be best for 2013 machines?
I heard Rage, Crysis 2 and Crysis 3 are contenders.
Thoughts guys?

Those games are about it.

Sadly, the PC game market is filled with sloppily made games. You either have to use one of those benchmark tools (which are approaching the cost of actual games) or something competently made.

A lot of games aren't even 64-bit for example. So, you'll actually get artificial results due to their own RAM ceiling.

Games also don't generally utilize multi-threading ... giving further limitations.

At this point in time ... it doesn't really matter since the defining variable is your graphics card. The faster it is, and the more ram it has ... is really the only measurement that applies because of how these are made. Which is annoying.

It's very aggravating to see neither your CPU nor GPU being utilized 100% (thanks to system tools) but the game is stuttering.
Blame it on Microsoft, God does.

I just found out that if you do not have a DX 11 card, you will not be playing Crysis 3 at all. That is gonna hurt quite a few people.

Fortunately, mine is, but my last card was not. I only got this card by default cause my son didn't wanna fix the fan.

Anywho..

If your card doesn't allow for DX11 standards ... then there's likely other reasons why Crysis 3 wouldn't run :P (that's pretty old)

Id just released the Rage tools too . Thanks to the megatexturing it's like 35GB or something. (Which is substantially smaller than the multi-TB source textures)

I just don't have the space for it.
