Fairly quick again, cloak research aided by the Rt Hon. Monqui.

nice, tho i cant makeout what the guy is, i see a cloak, and i think a hood, could be gray hair? im confused.
reminds me of the time i had to use charcole in the rain during a art class.
could do with a bit more on the face area. but nice none the less.

ahh yes, was unsure about the face so i left it as a muddy mess... it represents death and darkness, kind of the grim reaper of a battlefield.

I love it i think it looks better as it is with out a face kind of adds a bit more sorrow and gloom to it I think.

Its the best one of yours ive seen so far gwil.

RAHH!

I just posted a nice crit, and it was eaten by the snark machine.

:short version:

...Like the pic Gwil. Keep pushing shapes and lighting; the pic seems a little muddy. Think of the shapes underneath the color...then worry about the painting. The part where the robe meets the fence post has good definition...do that to the rest of it. I see a spark of interest, and enthusiasm, in you that will push you through the pitfalls of learning to paint/draw. "Strong with you, the force is...sense it I do."

(sorry..13 hours of 'Starwars: KOTOR' this weekend :dorky: )

Finger: Yeah, I used to love doodling as a means of expressing passing thoughts on things.. it's only recently i've renengaged the hobby with a bit more "gusto" (money is the main factor tbh!).

Thanks for the tips finger, I think im gonna dig this one out and work some more on it tomorrow, a "revised edition" as it were - most of what I 'produce' at the moment is experimenting with shapes, light, poses, textures.. etc etc - grasping the fundamentals.

Phew, pause for breath!

Kudos on Star Wars, when I'm not painting or busy, i'll be enjoying the customs Civ 3 Star Wars mod package :dorky: Pheer my AT-AT's foolish Rebels!

haha, thats just lately  "artistic themes" jeff... cloaks are mysterious and dark! and usually pointy on top of the head due to the nature of the material/design
