Look deeply over the controls list in HL, then look some more. It's on there.

raises hand

this site is dedicated to the betterment of new and upcoming mappers..

this question is rather easy to figure out, we suggest you try to on your own..

also, IMO this belongs in the editing section, to retain it for future askers..  anyone else agree?

or press "print screen" alt + tab out and paste it in an image editor and save.

Hit your tidle key ~ and type this in console:

bind k "snapshot"

Replace k with what ever key you want to use to take your screenshots.

These screenshots are saved into your Sierra/Half-Life folder.  Open the .bmp with an image editor (i.e. Adobe Photo Shop or Paint Shop Pro or Irfanview) and convert it to a .jpg which reduces the file size.  Then upload the .jpg to your own personal web space or site and link to the .jpg here in a post.

few programs deserve this level of recognition, are so versatile, and free for use by anyone..

its stupid proof, and yet we still have people who refuse to use it, even going so far as to post enormous pictures, just to demonstrate their level of hardheadedness..

so yeah i go on about it.. and hopefully for a few,not completely in vain..

I still like Irfanview better than Xatio- its just a much simpler interface IMO. And it does fantastic jobs with shrinking and stretching images, considering its free.

Screw that XAT.com crap.. get a real program.. Get ThumbsPlus.

Not only will it allow you to compress your images, but it will also allow you to save it as many differant file types, and also allows you to do everything and more that XAT.com program does.

No really give thumbsplus a try.. that xat is ok.. but I like the power and the abilities of Thumbsplus more.

personally, i don't give a rats ass if they break out the f**king scissors and trip the images by hand..

if people persist in posting oversized images, then drastic measures may be needed to entice them to heed the advice..

i am just really partial to xat.. once its set its done.. i have it set to grab the pics from HL, and have it set to deposit them in a folder i call "reviews"

grab>click> complete .. thats it...

and it will resize an ungodly amount of images all at once...

anyways... use anything that makes you hard, i don't care, but i am very close to losing my cool over these images over 100k

It's simple, F5 (unless you changed the key to do so), creates a bmp file of the map name (e.g. a screenshot of de_dust will be say de_dust0001.bmp). Open the screenshot in photoshop or some picture editing program, save it as a JPG.

When saving as a jpg go for the file size of the picture that retains noticable quality but isn't too large. An 800x600 pixel screenshot (the size you should always resize images to) should not be over 80kb.

doc your comment was irrelevant to the question, but still funny as hell...

since the topic had stalled anyways.. the humor seemed befitting to me..

rugal dislikes most people, it seems you and i in particular... he just took a shot at you..

ignore him..

this maps rating has been fixed 3 times, and still rugal went back and posted the same message..

http://www.snarkpit.com/maps.php?map=480

[edit]

i guess.. i was mistaken.. thanx humbly
