Made with Notepad and MSPaint. Well, and Hammer, and Wally too. This is a demo screenshot of what the map will look like.

I'm curious about what Notepad was used for - wouldn't you just make the ASCII using the MS Paint text tool, then use wally to turn it into a texture wad?

Anyway, its certainly a novel idea, though judging from the demo screenshot, I'm not convinced it has much potential. Maybe thats just me, but it doesn't hold any visual appeal in my eyes (perhaps like flatshading doesn't to other people). Perhaps with more complex architecture it could look a tad more impressive however.

Will you release the wad ? I think it could look good ... Tron-style, if you use advanced architecture

Agree with ReNo. The "gimmick" doesn't really seem to be working too well - it looks more like low detail / resolution textures or something. I really like how you're trying different things though, I never would have thought of ASCII HL maps. :sailor:

Huh?
And yeah, I was going to make more textures, maybe different colors, and much nicer architecture. This was just to show you what I plan to do.
