Many of you may have seen this before, but being as I think I'm the only one on this site from Oregon, I feel that it is my duty to share this with you all.

The story goes, that in the sixties or seventies, a large whale got washed up on a beach near Florence, Oregon..

And it was decided that the solution to the problem was dynamite...

i have recently joined the chubby group, so i can safely say, it takes a bit of dedication to get this way..

anyone who defends a fat person, or is a fat person, deserves no more respect than it took to become a fat person...

in my case, its my job, i eat less than 1/2 of my intake prior to getting this occupation, and i still managed to pack on 50 pounds..

most whom meet me now, say "but you aren't fat at all" but i was 150 pounds for most of my adult life, i feel huge at 200..

anyways, very, VERY few people cannot help their weight, due to some horrible disease, but most deserve your scorn.. exercises your right to make fun at them, they exercised their right to be disgustingly fat..

CHOICES=CONSEQUENCES

you see, people want the benefit of the first part of this equation, without suffering the drawbacks of the second portion..

if you want an example, i chose to be somewhat disagreeable, and i chose to be negative towards certain questionable portions of the worlds population, thats the 1st part, and i accept that a portion of the world is not going to look favorably upon me for being such an asshole about it... thats the second portion of the equation..

most people have a choice whether to be obese or not, it isn't a case of someone else's will pressed upon them, but they don't want to pay the price for that decision, which is the reaction everyone else has towards their obecity... may it be pity, scorn, indifference, or out right verbal abuse... most of todays society, perpetuates this belief, of "do, without, payment" they feel it is 100% within their rights to do anything the wish, as long as it only effects them.. well obesity is not a one on one issue.. the world seldom accommodates overweight people, and it shouldn't have to either.. if fat people cannot fit on an airliner, they shouldn't press for extreme accommodations to be so..

same holds true for all of life's choices... if you still had to pay the piper for your bad choices, you might not be so inclined to make them..

anyways.. unless we want this issue to degrade to a point of anger.... it might be best to avoid it..

i am extremely set in my viewpoint, i can discuss it rationally, but few others know how to do it without becoming personally involved..

i for one couldn't care less if you got angry and made a complete idiot of yourself in doing so.. but a few of our fellow members might, and we need to be fair to them, to many of snarkpits non-mapping discussions end in hatred, and self righteous bullshit sessions... most of snarkpits members are not experienced enuff to converse without getting angry..

i suggest you think about this before we continue further :/

I kind of agree with you Orph- it is mainly a way of life which causes obesity, and I see very very few fat (let alone obese) Chinese people here in Hong Kong- and people think they can do what they want because it is a free world and don't give a flying f**k about others. But I don't think it's right to mock or scorn people like that, unless they've gone out there deliberately to piss off other people- although things like that happen due to free will it can often be very hard to go back down the road you came...

like i said lep, i accept that my view on certain people is unacceptable to some, i am not here to convert, nor recruit anyone... far be it..

but i am quite certain that, if people had to pay for their choices, LIKE ITS SUPPOSED TO BE, few if any would chose wrong so often..

anyways.. i think its safe to say, most of my friends here at SP are fairly certain of my position, and a few of those accept that its just as fair for me to be there..

its the ones unwilling to accept that people are going to be judgmental, mine is against obesity ATM, for them its against my right to be so.. :/

Unfairly or not, we live in a society with it's roots in several different forms of capitalism and individualism... You are judged by what you are, both physically and mentally, and no matter what unfortunate event or defect caused your bad side, none of them will force any real pity on you.

The man had his picture taken for a website on purpose, of course, and might have even been paid. In this case, he chose to be ridiculed for his size. A slob he is, and a slob he will be, no matter how hard you will try to treat him like 'everyone else'. Commie.

BTW, Father Christmas?
