you shouldn't makes such positive sounding comments crono, the list of books to movie failures out number the successes i am afraid.. at least leave some room for openness as in my comment "IMO"
No, because that isn't true. You said "Always" and there ARE (even though you don't want to admit it) good book adaptations.

Also, didn't we have a discussion in the other thread on book ADAPTATION not recreation.

(I'm well aware you said "in my opinion". But it's just not true, since you haven't seen every movie ever made that was based on a book, nor have you seen every movie that will ever be made that is based on a book. )

LOL, you coaching me on "all inclusive comments"

read your replies sometimes.. they sound more bold or in the know than my versions ever could..

adaptations are all well and good, the movie may be superbly adapted, but it assumes the book was well written to begin with, a thought that is not always consistent.

secondly, just because the movie was superb, doesn't make it better than a book, thats impossible, because a 2 hour flick cannot encompass a 300-600 page book.. sorry its not the same.

lastly, keep trying crono.. someday you will learn.. as i did, to post with open ends on them.. "always and IMO" can still be open ended

I'm stating things how I always do and I'm not going to change the way I type or talk, no conforming, sorry.

I hate the term "in my opinion", it sounds self-important.
As if to tell the person reading it that what they're reading is more important then what they think. I know that's not how it's meant, but most times at least in the context it's used, it comes across that way.
People 'read' words differently I suppose.
I won't even start on the "keep trying" crap numerous people tell me, this happens face to face as well.

I don't care how 'bold' my posts sound and frankly the amount nit picking that is done to my posts is starting to piss me off.
No offense to anyone.
Most of my posts are read into far too much; much farther then what's there and in return assumptions are made about what I said.

Here's an example:
just because the movie was superb, doesn't make it better than a book, thats impossible, because a 2 hour flick cannot encompass a 300-600 page book.. sorry its not the same.
I never said that. So, what did you respond to?
I mean, it looks like you're directing the statement towards me ... if not, if it's just a statement, that's different, it's just unclear ?

My words aren't literary and have no grounds for analysis. So, please, only take them for what they say.

Also, books and movies shouldn't be measured in the same light; they're different formats for one.
Secondly, a book allows complete and utter control to at least one person, a film does not. I don't know when people (in general) are going to realize that.
What is the point of making something in a different format if it is exactly like what it came from? That shows no effort from the people who worked on it, no creation, nothing. There are examples of when this is done and they're terrible (The Great Gatsby).

[lastly]
I'm just being honest.
So, don't look at this as if I'm trying to hurt someone or piss someone off.

Also, I'm not picking on you, Orph

.. ok let me attempt clarification, if you can, try to read it as such, and not a personal affront toward "CRONO"

no one is asking you to change, just realize that you do indeed comment very specifically sometimes, as if you already hashed it out some time ago and we peons took way to long to even discuss it.. as if we might consider your decision all there is.
you must also realize, these discussions we have, most likely have already been discussed either around here, or another forum entirely, so we have our own beliefs to draw upon.
also, your quote, yeah its directed entirely at you, its in response to your earlier post quoting me as wrong there as well.. sadly tis the nature of forums..

you must try to realize, its rather hard to form a distinction between "POINTED" and "GENERAL" comments.. if i say IMO, its not an attempt at arrogance, its trying to make a statement that truly only effects oneself, and huts no one.. its "general" when a person says "YOU'RE WRONG" thats pointed, and becomes inflammatory.. one should always attempt to avoid such statements.. (no i am not saying you do this, its just an example of the term)

lastly, i find that you try way to hard to justify your words.. allow us to form our own opinions on your words, and also allow us to decide IF our opinions are correct before you inform us of our grievous error.. we have just as much right to decide YOU know what you are talking about, as you do about us.

believe me crono, if you piss one of us off, you won't need to wonder... it will be very clear and concise.. so far, i see no indication of it... you are forming opinions about us, based on your personal life, we don't know you except from your time here, please allow us the same courtesy..

Where'd this come from?
The very last part of my post that basically said 'this post is not entirly directed at anyone and should be taken with thought and not feelings'?
you are forming opinions about us, based on your personal life, we don't know you except from your time here, please allow us the same courtesy..
... am I?

1. If someone tells you "you're wrong", you can believe them or not. No need to take my words for the ultimate say, you'll know if you're wrong or not on trivial subjects.

2. Are you speaking of this website as a seperation of your personal life? Like a job or something of the sort?

nevermind though, you may have understood what I said, but you didn't take it the way it was meant.

crono, someday soon we need to discuss this in real time.. either via MSN or land line phone, cause you seem to truly miss my meaning.. i am neither threatening you, nor attempting to cause you grief.. all the comments you keep quoting, by themselves look as if i am doing it though, and THATS definitely not my intent..

till we do so, i will refrain from commenting further on your shortfalls..

...Yes, with a side of Boogiepop to go with it. (A friend of mine actually has read most everything on the Evangelion universe and understands it pretty well, he's Korean, if you were wondering  )

Orph, I was just using things you said as an example of how things come accross, that's all. No big deal.
