How does one become a map reviewer because I would gladly review maps I think it would be fun and I could write some good reviews.

You dub yourself map reviewer. Either offer yourself to others or ask them if you could review it.

Normally you would just post your review in the same thread as the map
you're reviewing, in the "maps" forum. Or, if the map doesn't have a
thread here for one reason or another, you can simply put your review
with screenshots on your own website, and direct people there.

The answer which people are oh-so obliquely giving you is that there have not been official map reviews here at the pit for a very long time. Not since I've been around in fact.
Maybe if you talk very sweetly to the ol Leper, he might let you restart the system. I for one think it would be a good thing, if only to draw new people into the site.

User reviews are being planned, as you might have noticed, which should sit aside 'official' reviews like tutorials do. Reviews of "external" maps would draw in a lot of people if done well, which is what official reviewers would do... anyways if you or anyone ever wants to go at being an official reviewer, you can always write a sample review (I want typical snarkpit length and style reviews, not 2 paragraph jobs!) and e-mail it to me

I still play actively (DoD, TFC, CS) I so could do it. It's just that im a lazy, distracted fool so it's incredibly unlikely
Meh, wait for HL2 for "proper" (ie official) reviews to start again i'd say, but it's not up to me

That's pretty much my sentiments on the matter too... Been waiting for HL2 to spur me to review stuff. Hopefully even pull in a team of people or some such.
/me continues not-so-secret secret planning of new webpagenessphwoar.

It's not a 'requirement' exactly- writing a good review (with decent use of English and grammar of course) is the only requirement, and there aren't terribly many people out there who could summarise a decent map that succinctly. I'll see how it goes though and what kind of thing people submit.
