hey, can you help me somehow ?

i created an Steam account with my HL Platinum CD Key, but forgot my password and everything is a mess. i didn't use that account for a long time, Steam even sent me an e-mail asking me if i'll continue using the account or not. i think i never answered them, so they were suposed to "delete" my account. now, that i want to use Steam, my CD Key is registered to that account and i can't register my CD Key to other account. i've mailed Steam team many times, but ultimately they aren't answering -.-
is there someone who can help me with this ? maybe Steam wants me to buy another HL Platinum pack again for $50 ( that's a lot for me.. don't laugh at me -.- ) but I WONT !

cmon.. say anything.. at least say " i don't know how to help you "

you have to remember the original password. Sorry, there's not really any other way. Not that you should be forgetting your password.

Steam has a question is asks you if you forgot your password. If you answered that question when you made the steam account that is.

First off your e-mails are not being answered right away, the people at steam have tons of e-mail to sift through before they might get to yours (probably most e-mails sent to them are people complaining about HL2 and CS source, wait at least 24 hours).

Do you remember the e-mail account used to create steam? cause if you type that in to their retrieve password thing it'll work, it worked for me, but I dont think I neglected my account as long as you may have (no offence). If all else fails then contact their support and wait for them to reply to you, it may take time but they will eventually get to you.

i forgot my secret answer, too, so i can't use " forgot your password ? " because they want me to answer my secret question.
i know they could take a while in answer, but i mailed them like 4 weeks ago.
if there is not another way to get my account back, all what i can say is that Steam has stolen my CD Key, they have stolen $50 from me. this sucks.

They didn't steal your key, you forgot all your information, that's your fault.

There is no way to retrieve the account if you don't know any of those things. If there were ANYBODY could gain access to anyone elses account by knowing their email address.

Don't blame your memory skills or your ability to not write things down on someone else.

Too bad, asterix.

50$... is it that expensive? Just buy a cheap HL copy somewhere, I
think Blue Shift or any of the other expansions should work as well.
i mailed them like 4 weeks ago.
I mailed them about something, can't remember what, like a year or something ago. I still haven't heard a word from them...

hesitates, but proceeds cautiously

you know, there are people around the world, who no longer play HL.. and i am betting that their numbers are usable.. you might ask around for one, or 2 or 3

i have 3 legit numbers, all my own, but unfortunately, i have already loaned the other two out to people here at the pit..

steam is way newer than people who quit playing the game, i bet their numbers will suffice..

after 5 years, i don't think its stealing to borrow an old number.. especially when you bought yours but was foolish enough to forget your passwords..

funny thing is, you are the only peruvian person i know, i cannot imagine anyone guessing your password, except another from your country.. you should have chosen "DOG" or is it "PERRO"

Actually the mods WONT work. Especially a BlueShift key. However, I found a copy of HL for a friend and bought it for him, since it was $2.50; thankfully it worked.

i forgot my password because i didn't worry about Steam. i just thought it was another "mod" or something like that, i never thought they would take my Key and give me no chance to get it back. well, if there's not a way to recover my Key... i can't do anything else, then. bye bye online games
( is there another way to play on-line with this Key ?? )

If they totally deleted your account, your CDkey won't be taken. If they didn't, they still have your email address. There must be a way to get an email sent to the address you registered with containing a new password or something? Don;t tell me you forgot the password to the email account you registered with!?

I didn't mean email them, I meant press the button in steam that sends you an email with a new password. But thinking about it, you said you forgot your secret answer, so I'm guessing it asks you for that before it will send you the email. Can't you have a few guesses at your secret answer?

Had I known there would have been so many problems with keys already being in use (seems to happen to lots of ppl on steam) I wouldn't have made an account. Since I never play online, it was a total waste of my cdkey, which could have went to someone else, more needy than I. (I dont even have steam installed anymore, it broke my heart.)

Can I discontinue my steam account and free up the cd key?

If so, I'll give you mine.

What the hell are you talking about? If Colin Powell pronounces it as co-lin then his parents were morons.

Believe it or not, on the language issues, adding that needless 'u' in there is probably the only item I would disagree with you on.

I really hate the way people pronounce culinary. Most people say, cull-in-ary, when it's pronounced, que-lin-ary. But no one seems to believe me when I tell them that, so then I ask them if they say, que-cumber or coo-cumber. It usually shuts them up.

The other thing I heard, on like Discovery or some garbage, was the way Americans speak is closer to how the original English language was spoken then the way stereotypical British speak.

Then again, on Discovery, I heard that the idea of hell as we consider it now came from Jamaica

i always thought it was pronounced "cullen-ree" as it were.. thats how
chefs and food critics, well, pretty much everybody has said it over
here.

and co - lin powell, ABC and BBC alike do it (i watch both of their
news programmes) really hacks me off. although having said that, some
of the reporters do seem to be calling him coll-in now... odd :O?

and also ive only just realised i was reading que as "ker" (ie the
french word). so having said, im pretty sure it's cull-en-ree, now i've
thought about it. i suppose accents and whatnot contribute a lot, and
the fact im not using "proper" phonetics (sp?) when discussing, just my
habadashery versions..

as for colour/color - doesn't bother me tbh, i think favour is
definately favour - you'd have to hear certain British accents to
understand why though.

oh and apparently

Then again, on Discovery, I heard that the idea of hell as we consider it now came from Jamaica
how bizzarre - we have a jamaican dude who lives next door, might ask
him about that one. he loves to spin tales about the storms, "the green
lizards" (chameleons) and climbing mango trees

and funny you should mention that about the Brit/American accent and
the old roots - i cant remember exactly where it was, but there is a
region somewhere where I heard an accent which definately had American
in it somewhere. I suppose it's only logical as modern residents of the
USA (bar the afro carribean/hispanic/non UK caucasian populous) came
from the UK. took all the town names too!

Yes, but 'cu' is pronounced 'que', but with culinary everyone pronounces it as 'cull' and not 'quel'. If this is the case that that is the only word with this exception that 'cu' is not pronounced as 'que', then I am giving up all hope on the english language ever becoming a proper language.

when you've learnt (or attempted to) other languages it does open your
eyes to how stupid and illogical the english language really is...

having said that, you should see Welsh. its those 3/4 extra "context
sensitive to become active vowels" that throw me... strraaaange stuff.

Yeah, the only thing about English is that, it isn't the hardest language to learn or speak, it's just the most moronic and illogical.

Only in English can we make fun of people when spelling pneumonia or vacuum. Using sounds, like Arabic, Japanese, or Korean, would be so much better. But too late I suppose.

Wales as a country would go really far on its own, obviously  And Crono, what are you on about with Hell? There are a lot of literal references in the Bible about it being 'geographically' beneath us, in the centre of the Earth, and a place of literal punishment (c.f. references on this crazy website, among others), unless you're referring to hell as being merely a place without god :/

i remember mentioning this once or twice.. something about making me "SCREAM"

i definitely second the notion.. freedom of speech and all that, its most definitely flogging the horse.

whispers

it would help, if i had some sort of basic knowledge on the topic i suppose, being the only heathen here kinda ruins the moment as it were.
