Just some problems I had & the solutions I found with steam, For future users.
It says its converting my old hl content into steam, But it doesnt seem to be doing anything
Im gonna be honest with you, for most people this bit crashes, give it quite a lot of time if you can though. Otherwise its cntrl+alt+del time.
When I start a game of hl, It finishes preparing. Then starts to open & then instantly closes
Add -window #800 to your launch options change your video settings appy & then remove the window line from your launch options.
I am seeing #SteamRoot. on my buttons
In your steam folder there is a file called clientregistry.blob (not affiliated with mr.blobby) delete this, restart steam. It will update. now restart your comp
When I connect to a server, It tells me something about my steamID ticket
Go to your settings, Log out. wait 2 mins. Log back in.
I disconnected before I had finished downloading a game via steam, It told me to abort/retry, What do I do?
It really doesnt matter, reconnect/retry. If steam errors close it & open it again, check monitor & your download should continue.
My download seems to have stopped, But the file is not 100% finished
Exit steam, Reload it back up. Check monitor, It should have continued.
When I use the cntrl+alt+shift+b method to edit my skin, Clicking save just crashes
That doesnt work yet, Youl have to take the info & enter it into your .res file manually to edit the skin.
It says my game is currently unavailable
Go to settings, Log out. Then log back in.
After a while my steam seems to have made my comp go very slow
Restart your pc & possibly log out of steam.
My comp continues to be slow & I cant shut steam down without it telling me there are no children registered
Dunno what to tell you, Im experiencing this atm
Has anybody ever ran steam with no problems at all? ever?
Scary_Jeff, Give him a medal/slap, Which ever you prefer.
I hate steam
Tell me about it :/

The only problem I have with Steam is I can not join a DoD server it just says
You were disconnected from the server
Reason: Timed Out
No matter what server it is and no matter how many times I retry it keeps saying that.
I can connect on everything else and usually get it on the first server I try after rebooting and then it workes fine but for DoD it just never stops

I can connect to DoD steam servers just fine...but it's crappy dod and tougher to edit. Honestly I'd rather NOT play "Diet DoD".

These bugs are in theory temporary. I guess they will be fixed once they have finished sorting all this leaked code nonsense.

considering you all lost me again.. let me reitterate..
if steam is chaotic at best, i think in the short term a tut of some sort might be in order, cause... we all know how f**king tedious it gets answering the same question 100 times
but i bow to the majority, but no bitching later when this arises again...
