I'm quite a way into making my map, but when I run the game there are no player shadows being generated. I have a light_environment and a few spot lights around the level, am I missing something else to generate shadows ?

Maybe you have that option turned off in the game menu for CSS ...

This is a long shot but any chance your light_environment is set to point straight down?
Check the pitch property and set it to something like -70. -90 is straight down so maybe that's what's happening.

Is your map fullbright? You might have a leak so its not doing any lighting, check your compile log or when you start up the map it should say its rendering in fullbright mode when the level loads.

I have the angle of the light_environment set to -50 and there are no leaks in the map, as it has a full cubed Skybox around the outside (Not the ideal way, but helps prevent leaks)
I can't seem to think what else it could be

I assume you're running the RAD process when you compile?

Do you have full shadows on in your CS:S options? Crono mentioned this
already but incase you overlooked it (as you haven't mentioned it) I
thought I'd reiterate the point.

Kinda dumb at what im going to say, but are shadows turned on in the console? I think its something like r_shadows 1 or something like that. CSS has been known to change the properties on its own sometimes.....

Player shadows?! One thing I've noticed running around in game is that everything else casts a shadow, but I don't...

The players themselves wont see their own shadow, I don't think, unless you go into thirdperson, then you'll see your shadow. It's the same as in Doom3, I dunno why it's like that...

I swear on one of the CS:S maps I can see my own shadow. I must have been mistaken. That was what I was originally stating. I can see other player shadows.

Yes, you can see your own shadow. I see mine all the time on de_dust if
I lean against a ledge or certain walls...so it does exist.
