I'm not very artistically inclined, which is why I refrained from
commenting on your other picture. I can pick out a couple of things
though, which I feel may need more work. The sword needs to be more
defined. I realise the style you're using doesn't lend itself to
well-defined objects, but the edges look too rough. The hood or helmet
on his head lacks any real depth, and the texture seems strange (which
is why I can't determine why it's a hood or helmet). The left side of
his collar doesn't look near as nice as his right.
The way the eyes are done, and the way the armour fades into black both
look excellent. This is a hundred times better than anything I could
create, so my criticisms don't hold much weight.

This was acctully my first picture ever with photoshop  but thanx for the nice feedback.
Oh and I totally agree with you on all your points, but as I said this was the first, and I would like to keep it like it was, so I can look back at it

A fan of fantasy art I guess  I really like that new picture,
particularly the dragon's head which I think is shaded really nicely
and has a real sense of depth. Teeth look a bit dodgy though - I'd have
imagined a dragon might have some more significant ones in there
somewhere! The fireball doesn't look bad but could be better -
unfortunately I'm not artistic enough to suggest how. Very good
job though, pretty impressive picture!

Thx Reno. Actually my friend said the fire looks like vanilla or something... but hey, fire is so damn hard to make convincing! Both Pepper and Grimloch made a very good job though, especially Grimlock

Tha flames lack depth and look very two-dimesnional when comapred with
the dragons head. The mans position on the dragons back is a little
strange, as someone sitting the way he is would usually turn their head
and turn their torso only slightly if at all.

The spear doesn't look a fitting weapon for him either - a demon thing of his stature should surely have something a bit more ornate!

You might want to creat a light source on your dragon's face that is coming from the fire. It will make it look awesome if you do that.

I just want to note some human proportions here instead of starting a new thread. I've done some reading and measuring myself and these are proportions anybody can use when drawing humans or anthro.
1) Body is about 7 heads high from the bottom of the feet to the top of the shoulders.
2) Waiste is slightly less wide than shoulders
3) arms are shorter than legs
4) when standing up finger tips reach down past the waiste and about half way to the knees
5) hands are shorter than feet
6) the upper part of the arm is the same length as the lower part of the arm.
7) the upper part of the leg is the same length as the lower part of the leg.
P.S. If you see any proportional errors in these notes let me know.

Actually the body is more like 6 to 6 1/2 heads high. 7 head is a little high but five is too short. For some f**ked up reason though sometimes you can get a good looking figure with 5 heads high and sometimes 7 heads.

Well I did some more measuring and read up on human proportions some more and it seems that the average is 5 heads high. Also I'd like to state that for males the shoulders are about 2 heads wide and for females the shoulders are about 1.5 heads wide.

I told you! 7 heads is for a SUPER-HERO or comic books in general. They have mis proportioned sizes everywhere. It is five heads high for a realistic drawing.

Ok so I've been doing some MORE research and measuring and I have come to a conclusion. Go with 5.5 if you want your person to look perfect. This is how I am going to be doing it from now on. 5 and 7 can also be good if you are doing something a little different. 7 would be used for something like a villian in a comic book and five would be used for a normal person who is having to carry a lot of stuff or is being weighed down by something they are carry such as armor.

Man! You guys take this rather seriously, don't you? <?xml:namespace prefix = v ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:vml" /><v:shapetype id=_x0000_t75 stroked="f" filled="f" path="m@4@5l@4@11@9@11@9@5xe" o:preferrelative="t" o:spt="75" coordsize="21600,21600"><v:stroke joinstyle="miter"></v:stroke><v:formulas><v:f eqn="if lineDrawn pixelLineWidth 0"></v:f><v:f eqn="sum @0 1 0"></v:f><v:f eqn="sum 0 0 @1"></v:f><v:f eqn="prod @2 1 2"></v:f><v:f eqn="prod @3 21600 pixelWidth"></v:f><v:f eqn="prod @3 21600 pixelHeight"></v:f><v:f eqn="sum @0 0 1"></v:f><v:f eqn="prod @6 1 2"></v:f><v:f eqn="prod @7 21600 pixelWidth"></v:f><v:f eqn="sum @8 21600 0"></v:f><v:f eqn="prod @7 21600 pixelHeight"></v:f><v:f eqn="sum @10 21600 0"></v:f></v:formulas><v:path o:connecttype="rect" gradientshapeok="t" o:extrusionok="f"></v:path><?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:lock aspectratio="t" v:ext="edit"></o:lock></v:shapetype><o:p></o:p>
I don?t think that getting the "character?s" right height is hard, I never think so much about it... I go entirely on "feeling" <o:p></o:p>
It's the hands, feet and legs I'm worried about! Does anyone have like a tut or something? Would be very aprishiated! <o:p></o:p>

If Lep would open up a tutorial section on drawing I'd gladly write some tuts. You can't go on feeling or you'll mess up. It's always good to draw everything ahead of time lightly and to draw up a skeleton (stick figure drawn really lightly) first of the person and then build off of that. It will make everything look better and you'll notice your proportions are more accurate.

Yeah but I mean the actual form of the hand while you are holding something!
Although, knowing there are three musceles (as you wrote) it makes it a little easier.
Oh and Spartan, I always mess up when I'm doing skeletons for my characters, Everything gets wrong

I don't like your use of photoshop filters in your pictures, looks a bit crummy.

I don't think I'll ever use PSP to color my pictures except for maybe on a few occasions. I like the old fashioned way of prismas and paint.

Sorry about the confusion. Whenever I say prismas I always mean the prisma colored pencils. I love those things. Freakin box of 120 cost me $100. Those damn things are expensive.

You paid a hundred bucks for 120 pencils?!? Are they really, really good pencils or something? I think Faber-Castell watercolour pencils are the way to go. It's pencil and paint all in one cheap, thin, wooden rod.
