When creating solids, i found the "torus" object realy helpful, especially when bending pipes. But nearly all of the blocks in the torus got an in invalid solid structure.

I've tried tried several times, i bet Valve didn't even bug test it

I have even tried to destroy the bad surfaces.

How do i make a torus without getting the "invalid solid structure" error?

I've been having the same problem I'm afraid  I've not given it much
testing, but twice I have found occasion to use it and twice it has
given errors.

Yay, came up with a solution!

Since ReNo have this problem, several others might,

so i will tell you all how i did.

To create a torus without invalid solid structure,

do like this:

1. Create your torus

2. Press ALT+P, to open the Check For Problems dialog

3. Click one of the milions of "invalid solid structure" errors

and click "Fix all of this Type"

4. You will notice that your torus now looks like s**t, there

are edges sticking out to the end of the map.

5. Select one of the "Unlimited pipes", they are made up of several

pieces so it can be tough reaching all of em'.

6. Now use the Clipping Tool (Shift+X) to cut away the bad parts.

Look in the Top window, you can see what to cut away:

the part that enters the next part in the torus.

6. Note that you will have some blocks remaining when done clipping
most of the "unlimited pipes", use their positions to figure out where
to cut them.

7. Your should now be able to use your torus without errors. If you
require more toruses, simply copy your original one and rotate it into
position.

*Phew, this was almost like writing a tutorial ;D
