Colors that are across from each other go together very well. The same goes for colors that touch, Yellow and Yellow red.

Monocromatic works very well to. Whire text and dark shades of blue for instance.

Also, Dont use white as a background color. While white looks
clean and very cool, the eyes will get tired fast while they look at
the site. So people wont spend alot of time at the site, nor will
they want to come back as much.

Diffrent colors also tie into diffrent feelings, warm colors (reds and
orange) are up beat and put people in a good mood. Cold colors
(blue and purple) tend to be sad and more layed back.

Green is a strong color (american money, banks, etc use green for this very reson)

Stay away from bright or pure colors, earth tones are easy on the eyes much like dark grey or black.

Keep text in high contrast from the backgroug and never use a backround
with patters that will break up the text, making it hard to read.

Simple, non flashy sites work very well

good luck.

Nonsense! Almost every word you read is on white. If your eyes are getting tired looking at a website on a white background, then the text font needs changing.

I cant tell if you are being sarcastic but
when it comes to computers you arn't reading black text on white paper,
you are reading off somthing that projects light. Its like
looking into a bright light.

I guess this is a personal thing, but I find white on black much better than black on white.

Hmm, I'll give you that, but again I guess that depends- these days we all use low-power monitors that aren't as bad as they used to be, and I haven't seen many encyclopaedia/knowledge-packed websites that don't use a white background!

When I look at DrGlasss post that I quoted, it says "but I find white on black much better than black on white". So presumably it was edited. I quoted it before it was edited (supposedly) so my post reads "but I find white on black much better than white on black". But then when DrGlass quoted that it went to the edited text. Judging the Doctors "wtf" reaction, that indicates he didnt actually edit the post so... umm... whats going on? anyone?
