This is really starting to frustrate me. I add a light_environment to the corner of the map corresponding with the sun on the skybox, and when i go in-game, all the shadows are acting like the light is coming from the exact opposite end of where I put the entity. If anyone could help me, it would be very. . . . . . . helpful.

if its a light_environment it shouldn't matter were you put it. It should come from the sky box's sun automatically.

Check out the pitch and compass (top right of the env_light properties)
point the compass in the direction you want the sun light to come from
and then set the pitch (dont forget 0 degrees is pointing at the
horizon so if you want the sun to point down you have to set it to a
negative degree)

a good setting would be 90 degrees on the compass and -55 pitch.

you are beginning to scare me with a few of your answers.
doc glass has the right of it. also i read that you can actually ADD A SUN of sorts to the sky now to give the glowy impression of a sun.

env_sun just creates the illusion of a sun on the sky box, so you have
to figure out the location of your sun and the angle it is on the sky
box and then line the two up.
