I found this map on a server last night, a German one I believe. This, btw is how I have found the very best maps I have in the rotation at the Gamers Diner. I call it fishing . Anywho, as I am not the author,(and I don't know who is actually) I decided to post this here instead of the maps forum, and my reason is,

I am beginning to scratch and sniff at Hammer for source, and I personally, think this map is jaw dropping in its scope and theme and performance. I just would like your guys opinions as mappers who have already released and or nearly released some very good (well excellent, really)maps for source.

link for the map is here. : http://gamersdiner.com/downloads/dm_minev18_4_05.zip

Here are some optimised screenies.

btw, don't let the fps reading decieve you, my Nvidia card has been having fits lately, and there are tines where all these readings are almost doubled.

Apart from the screwy layout (too vast, methinks?) and getting caught on rocks/items, it looks pretty amazing!

Well in the case of multiplayer, when you have a heavy player load, with explosions, particle effects, sounds, and all the net code stuff, I think, yes.I believe you should have your settings so that you recieve a steady 45-50 to 70+ fps for the best HL2DM experience. I personally run at 1600 x 1200 with everything on and sometimes I suffer in MP because of it. Still though, when you consider all the visual goodness of HL2, it's hard to make myself turn down the settings.

I knew someone would make a Ravenholm mine theme eventually!

It's funny, even though I know it's kind of like the ravenholm mine
area, when I first saw it I thought it looked completely
original. I thought it was one of the few maps that didn't look
like part of the singleplayer campaign.

The first two shots made me actually say "oh wow." But then after that I wasn't as blown away.

How does the map play Juim? Haha and I run on 640x480 on all the lowest settings.

I found some serious errors. I also noticed only two routes from "top" to "bottom" choke points that i feel are not conducive to quality HLDM fragging.

I would love to get with the author to make this map better though, cause i can see some very interesting ideas in it.

but seriously, i cannot see this playing very well. you just do not have the routes to support it

teleporters would fix the current configuration perfectly with a minimum of restructuring.

if you can locate the author, please pass on my comments.

Maybe if we type the name of the map in www.google.com we might find a name

I've just run through it and, despite the lack of conectivity and
somewhat unrealistic or poorly thought out architecture in places, the
thing looks pretty darned good. That being said it would probably best suit a
SP type of gameplay rather than MP, but I thought it looked really cool
and was made reasonably well. Wouldn't run it on a server though as is.

This ladder, and one slow elevator are the only routes from way up there to way down here.
