I dont think so, because the play doesn't exist. You would have
to code a model to follow the view point around and match its movments.

NO. IT DOESN'T. I will not accept defeat.
As I learned from TWHL, He has a player model in the first chapter, before he gets the suit. just put third person on in the console, and you can see it. so I am wondering if I can edit that model to be something less gimpy-like.

hmm... reskin the player model, maybe it has some kind of specail texture that doesn't let it show up on camera.
well... no I think there is some code that the camera follows, becuase it also doesn't draw the hand and gun models.

I don't want to be in the consoles' "THIRDPERSON" mode anyway....I just want my player to show up when looked at through a camera.
Why would this feature be deliberately removed from HL2 when it was in HL1? To improve game performance, I'm sure....and maybe it is more difficult than I figured to be able to see yourself.
It just bugs me that this can be done in HL1 and not HL2

I'd have thought other people would be able to see you on the camera, but you can do nothing to make it so you can see yourself move.
However, you should be able to make some available, appropriate model that's meant to be you perform a scripted sequence for a 3rd-person scene.

See, I thought you were talking about a point_camera that would be able to draw the player character...

in garry's mod, which uses a little bit of script from hldm, if you create a camera and look at yourself you wont be there.
