is there a way to have it so that whenever someone looks at an area, they can receive a tiny typed message on their hud?

Look at an area? Don't think so... just use a texture or make it trigger on fire.

I take it this is for when looking at that crazy door, it tells you to shoot it with a shotgun? An easier and better way would be to put some decals on the door of shotgun fire, and a shotgun on the floor next to it. When you go near it, it triggers a message telling you to shoot the door with the shotgun.

If it is for single player, then you can use a func_look entitie (dont
know the real name if that one is wrong) and it can trigger a game_text

no,this is for CSS.

Yes, this is for my shotgun breachable door. But its being used as a tactical option, such that this one door can only be opened from one side from a shotty (or a lock from the other side). This way an SGer would be useful to have in your group or for yourself.

Does the game_text give that to everyone?

no, only to the person who triggers it. I think, not 100% sure
