Let it be said,
We are a devoted team, everyone in it is always on everyday, and notifys one another of their absense. We discuss and have meetings often.
This is not a MMORPG.
Only the lack of peoples' will to create, will it be lost.

Ill be sure to work on that.
But for Myrk
What I fail to see is why you so strongly oppose out mod. It appears to
me that CS or any CS clone mods or DoD / clones seem ok, but when a
group of developers get together to create something unique and
original, we get replies full of hate. From the way you are sounding
you are acting like you WANT us to fail. Please, no more posts from
you, because im growing tired of your garbage.
If you don't want to help then you can leave. I hardly consider it
advice when you are critically calling our mod an instant failure.
Thats not advice thats just being an asshole.

I'm very realistic, its part of how I am, and realistically, if one of the original creators isn't the coder, then the job more than not never gets done. And my "garbage" far succeeds your puny knowlegde on the subject of modding.
My advice is to make you realise what you are partaking in before you waste your time. I am not saying you will fail, I'm saying that chances are highly stacked against you in creating a decent mod, let alone releasing one. Just look at ModDB for stats on HL1 and HL2 mods, you'll find that 99.9% of all mods that are started never get finished and die as a load of random maps and models with some code making it a very basic alpha at most. As such, you should keep your ideas open till you find a coder who likes the basic idea, who will then tell you what he feels is possible and worth the effort.

If I am reading this correctly, then this guy is suggesting that you wait for the guy/girl who will really be in charge to show up before you close any doors.
Sound about right?
I know nothing about mods or maps, but it sounds reasonable to me.
There is no history until something happens, then there is.

Oh, we have a very talented coder, perhaps more than just him. (I am not sure about new recruits yet) But he is very good, and a friend of mine for eight or more years. A good guy, great coder, good mapper, and a guy that will devote,

Myrk I understand that. But what you don't know is that I have
discussed the mod with several coders that I know from previous
projects. One is going to college next year and believes he will be
busy there. There are two others who are thinking it over. I realize it
is a difficult position to fill. But I know what these guys can do
because I've been around them for a while. I know what is difficult and
not so difficult for coders to do because I have personally asked them
before. Im no fool when it comes to the challenging aspect of creating
an RPG. Still though you guys are making this project larger then it
really is. The first version will not be what the about section states.
That is what our goal to build up to is. Thanks for the advice however,
I do know what im doing.

The world.
Will be in segments, (Like the Onyx mire is a different map than the Scantuary of the Goddess.) Connected by transitions that will only proceed if will of all players abide.
If a server is running lets say the map, "The Scantuary of the Goddess" and a guy with a character in the "Emerald Forest" will have to wait a "journey" time, that journey time gives the realistic feel of being in a world, and not in a game.

Hehe, all im asking is that if you have something against the mod, this
is not the place to post it. And yes to address one common question,
its not an MMO, thousands will not play simultaneously on the same
server. And the world will be a compilation of many maps in which you
will zone in and out from by the will of all the current players in
your respective server. If a player is in one area of the world on one
server and another server is running a different map of the world, the
player could either travel on his own to get to that segment of the
world to play in the other server or he could wait out a journey time
when he connects to a new server. Its actually pretty simple to
understand, just kinda hard to explain.
Thanks.

I appreciate your support.
let the forum stand.
We currently do have as Cyax put it a very skilled coder. But we are in need of more then one.
Also, we are looking for the following:
-One more 3d modeler (weapons/props)
-Two player modelers (players, creatures)
-Two to three skinners (weapons,props,players,creatures)
-One texture artist!!
-One more sound artist(music, general sounds)
-One more mapper.
I know it sounds like a lot but if we can expand the team to that length the project would move a lot quicker. Thanks.

I just quickly browsed the thread and all I read is BOLD everywhere.
I suppose the reason they say your not ready is because you have not earned yourself to earn a coder. But as it seems life is odd and you managed to get one.
Take a look at other mods and try to mimic them...

Its ok, the real website is under construction. We want this a lot more
then you think and are working hard for it. This is not one of the
those mini mods you see go up for a day and then die off.

Also, we want the races to be more unique to Medultile alone. As for
the first public test we wish to have one unique good race and one
unique evil race to make the game more interesting.

Right now we are looking for a experienced 3d modeler to lead the
weapon and props modeling segment as well as a very experienced player
model. Lastly, we still need an animator.

the world is divided up into several maps. it sounds as if most of these maps are outdoor, and for it too be interesting these maps are going to have to be huge. if they are too small it will be boring. so what computer is going to compile several huge outdoor maps? unless you have a supercomputer.
but whatever makes you guys happy...

will be moderately sized depending on what part of the world it is.

I get a vision of your character running through a forest and every ten seconds a message comes up with 'loading'. then you wait for a few minutes and it all starts over again.

Hmm im trying to put this in a way you can understand. Take any average
size HL2 map right. Now, you can venture all around this map, decently
sized, kill things level up and maybe even sell some stuff. Now if you
are playing with more then one person you will have to travel to the
edge of the map where you will be asked if you wish to "zone" or travel
to the next map. Every player in the server has to consent and then you
move on. That is what it is like.

But what if it's the other way, he hasn't finished a quest or something and the others don't care so they just leave and kick him.

Habboi, in the mod it will be majority rules sorry to say, but there is
no other way around it, other then admin usage. If the majority are
done with that area and the others refuse to move on then the others
can join a different server or put up their own.

but think about some of the levels in half life 2 were pretty small so an 'average' size would not be that big.

The capacity of HL2s engine regarding level size all depends on the
amount of detail. An emensly detailed map would have to be made smaller
then it could have been should it have been moderately detailed. Don't
underestimate the capabilities of halflife 2s engine it is still able
to support pretty big maps if the mapper is efficient in clipping and
using multiple techniques to reduce fps lag. Expect the maps to be of
good size and also run very well on your computer.

The "Supercomputer" is your computer. You will contain all map files, all save files, everything. However you will not be able to create youe own map or modify your character out-of-game (hack). The maps, me being a mapper I understand the potential of the HL2 engine, and being the Head Mapper I will see that this is met. No puny tiny maps and loading screens every ten seconds, each map will have something to do that will amuse you... Or so I plan.

Ok we still could use another coder and are very much in need of a texture artist! HL2 = no medieval textures
