Hey all its me :leper: Half-dude,

Anyway Ive been down in Washington for the whole summer. I came back resently and I found a problem with the lighing in half-life that seemed to come out of nowere.

Here check out these pics:

See, the texture is completely black even though Im shining my flashlight right on it. BUT if I turn to a certain angle the texture fades into view.

This is another annouying thing that happens, if I turn on my flashlight and look down at any of the trash it isn't lit and stays at the same light level.

Here's the cut off flash light error, just another.

So as you can see I seems to be a problem with the flashlight, can anyone help? I uninstalled the local game content and the re-downloaded it but that didnt help.
Yes I spell bad, but remimber Mighty are the stupid.

  • Latest video drivers ?
  • Try switching resolutions
  • Run the game on a different DirectX mode (-dxlevel 80, for example)

Yep I downloaded the latest drivers too. I guess I'll try the other things.

I'm assuming it only does it with the flashlight? If that's the case ... there's nothing wrong. The flashlight is only shined on one plane at a time.

I've never seen it shine in a corner and be on the floor and wall, for example.

As for the overlay/decal thing ... check more overlays to see if the same thing happens. It doesn't seem like something to be overly concerned about. HL lighting has always been temperamental. The shadowing specifically in hl2, if I remember, has issues. (not all shadows molding together where they should, good example is the crane)

Overall, it doesn't look like a bug at all. You settings could be affecting it as well.
Blame it on Microsoft, God does.
