ok so i need an alternative sky texture to the Canyon one that comes with the wads on CS.

Thing is that i can't find one that does the same as the normal sky texture, ie it moves around even though it is only a block infront of the window with a texture?

Use the SKY texture as normally, but go to Map->Settings (or Properties, I forget) and you will be able to change the sky name. You can find extra skies in /cstrike/gfk/env/ .

in addition to that, if your looking for the correct skynames to imput into map/properties -> cl_skyname

here is a list of default HL skynames:

<TABLE border=1 style="HEIGHT: 114px; WIDTH: 314px" width="75%">
<TBODY>
<TR>
<TD>2desert</TD>
<TD>black</TD>
<TD>dusk</TD>
<TD>neb6</TD>
<TD>xen10</TD></TR>
<TR>
<TD>alien1</TD>
<TD>city</TD>
<TD>morning</TD>
<TD>neb7</TD>
<TD>xen9</TD></TR>
<TR>
<TD>alien2</TD>
<TD>cliff</TD>
<TD>neb1</TD>
<TD>night</TD>
<TD>xen 8</TD></TR>
<TR>
<TD>alien3</TD>
<TD>desert</TD>
<TD>neb2</TD>
<TD>space</TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>

the 2desert is the default skyname that will be implemented into anymap that doesnt have a different skyname specified. thats the desert canyon one you were complainning about :wink:

hope this helps.

SKY texture = tells HL where to show through to the sky/environment map, which is kept in gfx/env as targas, not in a wad.

there are lists of the default HL, CS, and TFC skies here- with PICTURES :biggrin: . very useful.

most skies here:

and crinity has several nice desert alternatives:

I have a ton of skys and none of them were found on WAD FATHEr or any other site for mapping.. A friend sent me this 3d engine for my desk tp, and one of the things it has is sky textures just like the ones in HL.. and guess they work!

Im gonna share this little secret of mine.. =)

If you wanna make your own skies, download terragen. It's very easy just follow some tut's or just figure it out your own. http://www.planetside.co.uk/terragen :eek:
