hehe. Just hit escape to stop music. Map is all in darker rust and earth tones. Standard stuff for klingon texture pack. I am considering turning down the lighting even further to add more dark spots, then I get the too dark complaints!, Oh well. thats why they're called betas!

Obligatory warning:This is NOT a review, it is to be considered opinion only, and as such totally dis-regarded if it is contrary to the authors intended results.. anything in this critique can be ignored with no ill will or hard feelings incurred..

at this stage of this maps life, anything found could be considered nit-picking, but i did at least do my very best not to sound so.. it should also be noted, that i could find nothing that would render this map unplayable, even if nothing hence forth is altered.. so without further Ado..

in all honesty i feel if the textured lights on the base of this area cannot be aligned closer, it should be replaced with one more suited, IMO, if it were decreased in both the vertical and horizontal scale it would look much better..

User posted image

another angle of the same error

User posted image

i am unsure if its a compile error, or a scale one, but this ceiling looks wrong..

User posted image

in this room/area, there isn't a single item to be found, but in the hall to the right, there is a whole plethora of them thrown around.. maybe a few could be relocated?

User posted image

now this is just my opinion, but.... would Klingon's really sit with their backs to one another?

User posted image

IMO this map has no area's suited to the crossbow.. the ship is just to confined..

User posted image

these lockers need to be shorted and recessed into the wall.. as they are, they just look wrong..

User posted image

is it just me? or aren't force fields supposed to be opaque? .. this one is crystal clear.. BTW that is one sweeeeeet skybox

User posted image

IF this were my map, i would re-locate the RPG's to this location, using the jump pack would be more preferable to just picking the two of them up from the floors

User posted image

AAaargg.. another crossbow

User posted image

this texture needs a bit more attention

User posted image

this opening is too narrow to transverse without jumping over

User posted image

upon closer inspection /me has to wonder, how did a klingon transport get this close to a galaxy class starship

User posted image

User posted image

the r's in this area are borderline... prolly due to all the func_walls in the next room

User posted image

the force field need a trigger_hurt ..

User posted image

compile error??? there is no light, not anything on the other side of those walls except vacuum.. i cannot fathom why there is a glow at the base of that wall

User posted image

this shot is just too cool for words

as i said, at this point, all this could be considered nit-picking, but what the hell, it reads good

very nice update juim.. you have one top notch map..

i would seriously consider a good playtest, one with people who will be straight with you, cause IMO, the items are way off... and a bit too thin as well.. but definitely wrong IMO..

Heheh, looks like Orph needs to learn about the melee xbow. That weapon in the right hands is a monster no matter what size room you're in.

i have had my ass royally whipped by that very weapon.. in the right hands it can easily dominate any map.. but IMO even so, any map not designed for its proper use ( is that even applicable in HL ??? ) should not be included.. this map has no sniper locations at all .. and the weapon IMO needs removed.. still its only advice and can summarily be ignored

I love going psycho with the xbow on rapidcore, which seems to be about the size and shape of this map from what I can tell by the screenies.

That said, there should probably only be one xbow, not two. I'd keep the one on the platform and not the one in the random corner.

Thx Orph, your opinions are valid and worth considering. I always appreciate in-depth criticism and suggestions from someone with a fresh eye. Perhaps I'll get rid of all but 1 xbow, and make that one hard to find. As for the force field in the shuttle bay, anyone know where I can get a transparent energy type texture with animation like from that one mod?.

Also, I am considering redoing the transitional areas from the upper to lower back areas. They seem superflous and unnecessary.

also like the hurt brushes on the jail cell ideas.

Yes Klingons eat with their backs to each other. It's an old tribal custom which aids in helping to protect the clan from intruders during meals. (hehehe, you can look that up if you like but I doubt there's any literature on it.)

Thx again Orph.

really??!, thats a tid-bit of info i never came across.. thanx for clarifying bud

and as always you are mucho welcome, if only everyone were so inclined as you are about feedback..

remember to find some people trustworthy for a playtesting.. i still feel the items are incorrectly placed.. but, hey.. whatta i know, i seem to get them all wrong too  .. according to the most recent poll anyways ..

be good, and please, don't rebuild it so much that it delays its release overmuch.. this map needs completed..

good job bud..

Juim, I've had quite good looking results at makeing force fields simply by useing an animated water texture on a  func_wall and applying the desired render properties...

just an idea

using a texture made of coloured noise you can make a perfect animating force field. I made an orange one for my brother ages ago.

tis a fine map... considering your experience level going into it, i think you can be very proud of yourself.. this map has changed quite a bit since i first saw it..

good job
