First off, and most important, is it very difficult to learn how to make Portal 2 maps? Is there a lot involved? So is anyone experienced enough with Portal 2 mapping to offer any advice as to if I should purchase it for PC only to make maps for it?

I already have Portal 1 and 2 for Xbox360 and I have completed them both. I would like to have some more custom content for it but that when the difficulty of mapping for it comes into play and if it's worth the money.

Thanks.

It's about the same as mapping for any of the other source games.

You can check this out, it's got all the information you need: http://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/Category:Portal_2_Level_Design

And, I have no idea why you'd want to play first person anything with a controller if you have an option not to.
Blame it on Microsoft, God does.

Thanks. I'll need to check into that.
One more thing: Does Portal 2 for the PC have to be played while connected to the internet? (Like Half-Life 2 and Steam)

I think you can play it while not connected to the internet, but I might be wrong.

Steam only is required to activate on the internet once. If you install a retail game you bought, you do not need to access the internet to play it. HL2 and Portal are the same in that if you downloaded it from the internet and then disconnect, you would still be able to play either of them without internet access.

But Steam (online or off) does have to be running to play any Valve Source game.

Just buy the game already. It's worth the cost.

And mapping for it isn't much different from other Source games. Nevertheless, you have to design a good puzzle before you start. Otherwise, you'll end up with a good-looking map with a shitty puzzle.
