As you may know from my previous post I am trying to set up a new computer. I was wondering if anyone knows how to skip the logos that appear before you start the game? I remember that on my old computer I was able to get it to skip.

Thanks.

This is probably not so helpful, but in the Half-Life folder, go to the Valve folder, and there should be a folder called logos.

If there are indeed some video files in there, make a back-up of them and delete the ones in the folder.

However, I have the steam version and only one file appears in that folder for me called "remapped.bmp" and that one has nothing to do with it.

Perhaps in the "media" folder you will find them?

The video files were in "media" and deleting them did stop them from playing, but the game did not like it. It still ran but I had to navigate through a couple screens of errors. Which was probably more annoying than the actual video.

But I do remember now that before I was able to push "Esc" on the keyboard and that would skip the videos that play. But now the videos still play and cannot be skipped.

Right click on the shortcut to the game. And under target add the -dev -console switches. That puts it in developer mode and adds the console by default. Which in dev mode will bypass the logo. Same applies to source games.

Once again necro these questions belong in the editing boards as they pertain to issues/development with the engine, which has always qualified to go in the editing boards. Thing of it this way: if you have a question, it goes in the corresponding editing boards so you can mark questions answered as the solution to the problem, that way in the future if other people come by with the same question, they can find the answer in our question/answer database, instead of trying to search through the millions of general threads that are on the general board ;)

Then I suggest doing what Omegaslayer said. Sorry!

Also @Omegaslayer, the description of the HL editing forum really should be changed then since it reads "making maps using worldcraft or hammer"

Also, I believe he already made this topic before you told him to put it in the editing section.

Not sure though!

[ADMIN NOTE]:

ok, I moved this thread as well, but I went ahead and also updated the Half-Life Editing forum description to now read:

"Questions about developing for the HL engine and using Worldcraft/ Hammer."

How's that? :)

Yes the -dev command did work.
Also, I believe he already made this topic before you told him to put it in the editing section.
This is true.

Agreed, but theres a more general description for each forum:

Description of the support forum:

"Got a problem? Help is at hand in our question & answer support forums!"

vs

Description of the general forum:

"Discuss content, show off your latest work or just have a chat!"

Maybe in the next iteration of Snarkpit we can make this more apparent. :)

I can totally change any of the descriptions for any of the forums. If you have suggestions we can consider them for updating this current version.
