the GTX 760 4GB SC card from EVGA is where you should be putting your money. I wouldn't go much higher than a 770.
It also depends on what resolutions and features you want.
Blame it on Microsoft, God does.

I have recently built a new rig and from rather extensive Googling and comparing I have decided on an Nvidia GTX 760 to be the best value for money. Having said that have a look at nearly new 2nd hand stuff as well for a couple of weeks, there may be some bargains to be had.

Well I got a GTX 760 in the end for £170 so I figure that'll do me. There is always plenty of overclocking head room since it is based on the previous GTX 670 but considering I have enjoyed Far Cry 3 using only Intel HD 4600 integrated graphics I don't think I'll need more performance than stock anyway.
