Hello. I've been here a while, love the site, and thought I would just
post this around. I'm the project leader of a modification for Half
Life 1 and Half Life: Source called Half Life: Episodes. In a nutshell,
HL:E plans to keep the original HL story and style alive while making
improvements. The player will take control of several characters from
the first HL series that were never playable, including a HEV suit
scientist, a female assasin and a construction worker.

Anyway, I thought I would post around showing off our new hosted site..
complete with forums. So come see us, give suggestions and feedback and
other stuff.

And if anyone sees this and thinks its front page material, that would be cool.

Edit: Sorry, forgot to link it. Thanks, $loth.

I've always wondered what the storyline of HL would be like through the eyes of a scientist in an HEV suit. The character could be a real bookworm, with glasses and some dopey name like Gordon.

Heh same here I don't really remember any hev suit scientists walking around besides gordon. And I don't remember a construction worker either, though that could lead to some interesting gameplay scenarios. As for the female assassin I think its about time somebody exploited this character! Kinda surprised valve didn't do it really.

All the HEV suit scientists other than Gordon died. Couldn't you see all those HEV corpses strewn throughout the Xen borderworld? Yes, lets make a mod where the main character you play has his guts sucked out by alien crabs.

[edit]Which reminds me, along with your avatar, Jfry... ...metroids and headcrabs are similar in a way- they both try to suck on your cranium.[/edit]

Thanks for the link Sloth, though if he's trying to sell us on his mod he really should provide the address himself! Meh, I'm sure it was omitted accidently.

Damn, it was 2 in the morning when I posted that, so I forgot to get the link. Sorry, everyone. Thanks $loth.

As for the HEV suit scientist, you can mock the idea all you want- we
all know that Gordon was indeed an HEV suit scientist, but this one
would have an added twist. Doesnt anyone remember the mass amount of
those on Xen, anyway?

The construction worker model can be found in one of the paks in the
valve folder. He was never implimented in any of the Half Life games,
so we decided he would be a cool character to play as. And maybe we
will have another character, but you'll have to see.

I won't give away too much, but you guys should trust us. 'specially you, Biological Component.

Do you mean like the "jina" character that delivered the crystal to gordon that started the whole incident (wow I feel like I should be on "beat the geeks" TV show), that was in the PS2 port called decay? Cause I suggest putting that map onto the computer, It was fun when I played it (besides the fact that it was on a console).

Decay has been accounted for. No, you won't play as Gina (it was my first idea, that eventually turned into this.)

But you might see her...
