Well I just went once and got to around 100k... 400k would be intense. I'll try at it school sometime where the computers don't suck bloodhound scrotum, since even that lagged on this POS a little. ;P

I decided to go for another round for the hell of it, got up to 150k... still not even close to 400k. Maybe if I shoot up it'll seem to be moving slow.

You know the secret to these games? Either play on a really slow computer, or run a bunch of stuff in the background so that the animation goes very slowly.

No, there was a different version where the ball fell vertically through holes. It was called Jezzball as well.

Write your own game, youll use up more time. Thats what I do...

I use a casio cfx9850gb+. Much slower than TI83, but it has a colour screen. It also doesn chew batteries insanely when graphing derivative functions.

lol, I'm such a nerd.

AU$100, but thats because the school bought them in bulk. Normally its around $150, which is about the same as a ti-83+.

Funnily enough, youre not allowed to use the TI83+, just the TI83. Apparently the + has more features or something that gives you an unfair advantage in exams. But just knowing how to program it gives you an edge on everyone else. I wrote a bunch of programs for vectors. I dont even remember how to find cross product the "normal" way anymore...

Odd, what do they do if you have a 89 or 200? Kick you in the balls?

By the way, that's total trash that a 83+ has an advantage over an 83. The reason why is that you don't study vector calculus or linear algebra in HS. So, I don't see how either would have an advantage in anything below advanced calc. or something as such.

Get yourself a TI-86. It's alot easier to type up notes in the programs with the higher resolution screen and the ability to use lowercase letters, plus you don't have to bother with the retarded OS of an 89 or get it taken away from you for being too advanced. That's how I made it through higher math and the sciences

We had to buy the TI-83+, because our math books uses it in all its examples  A color screen would've been nice...

Final Score: 164558

Yeah, pretty much. The rule is, youre only allowed to take certain types of calculators into exams.

Oh and... yes, we do study vector calculus and linear algebra in HS. Not in too much depth tho. Everyone seems to think theyll allow the 83+ next year... strange business indeed.

Our highschool had limitations like that- basically you could use anything that didn't have a qwerty keyboard setup on it. The reasoning was that you could bring in notes much easier on those (not like it's that hard to get notes on an 83/83+, it just takes longer).

You can't take a 89 into the SATs because it has a QWERTY keyboard. For some obscenely retarded reason that's unknown to me.

This is a version for the TI83+

(except for the ball falls up this time ... well, look for "fall down", and you'll have something similar)

More the point, Hugh, any model above the 83+ can do Calculus and algebraic calculations on its own. Kinda defeats the purpose of learning how to do it yourself... which appears to be what most of Maths is about. Here in Aus they're considering introducing a course which ALLOWS the higher model calculators, but are having trouble designing an exam for them.

To some degree, but don't forget half the reason is to train people to think in that kind of way, and maybe to go on and make new discoveries for themselves.
