No WiFi for you!
Speaking of which I need to pick up a 802.11b card for my laptop, sick of carrying around that damn network cable at school.
And yes, Steam really isn't so bad. It seems everyone who whines about it doesn't bother reading ANYTHING about steam.

I used Steam back a long time ago, didnt like it. Unistalled it,
then a while later, reinstalled and it didnt Accept my CD key.
Now I have 4 different files so I didnt know what to do. I have a
700mb Steam file, a 800Kb Steam Installer, a CS1.6 full file (I got it
back at a LAN party. and a 1.5 download from way back when.

You don't make a new account, that's why.
Just log in with your old information, the KEY is stored with your information on steam servers.
Meaning, you can log in anywhere that has steam and play ... that was part of the point of steam.
And, don't bother getting those huge ass files, unless you have a piss poor connection, otherwise, just get the 500k installer. By the way, you'll be updating lots of stuff on Steam even with those CS and Full game installers.

You can also just do direct IP to IP if you have a few friends having a match on a private server or something.

Im assuming your all using (or planning) lynksis, so far its ben great, it just if your dropping 60 bucks for a 802.11b you might as well drop just a little bit more money for a 802.11G, the difference is noticeable; 802.11b gets around 11.0Mbps and the 802.11G gets 54.0 Mbps around here.

Yup the numbers are correct. I have a D-Link card so I decided to go with a D-Link router as well. The card is a "b" but the router is a "g". I got the wireless card for free anyways. And I just use it for the internet. So there wouldnt be a difference between a "b" and a "g"

Well, the fastest right now is WiFi, which is supposedly a little faster then G.
However, to use it at my school I need either b or WiFi, or at least that's what they told me.
Lynksys is alright, they're good for the price, but US Robotics is the s**t, I like them and their parent 3com (or is it the other way around, I can't really remember)

Erum, its pointless otherwise. Since the sole purpose of a Router is to assign new IP addresses on your network ...
