Far Cry Map section?

Do you think we could have one please?! It would encourage me to make good ones.

Sure, why not. I'd be happy to write a few, I picked up all my skills from it by just messing around. Haven't followed a single tutorial! :biggrin:

Think we need Lep to make it though. Tell you what, I'll write a decent "Getting Started" tutorial (like my Half-Life one which has yet to be published here! ) and send it to him. Think he'll go for it then?

the only times tutorials do NOT get posted here are if they are redundant and cover the same material we have to closely to be called original, or if they are very poorly written..

otherwise, give it enough time.. if its not up in say 3 or 4 days, send a friendly reminder email or PM.. tutorials have come up missing due to database glitches (i assume) but i have never seen one ignored.

My flatmate mentioned a Far Cry mapping contest in PC Zone UK or
something, with the prize of an uber good gaming / mapping PC. I
haven't looked into it at all but he said the deadline is sometime in
December, and as I've heard Far Cry's editor is simple to learn it
could well be possible to become competent at it and have a shot in the
contest. I certainly wouldn't complain to have a Far Cry section on the
site, but then I'm happy to see other games appear here.

screenshots - hence I have left it unpublished, and was going to follow
up by sending you a private message suggesting you add some. Or, it
will remain unpublished :razz:

i am in a really good mood today, so i will clarify this small blunder without being an asshole.. in Arkansas at least, giving someone a cookie is considered extremely rude thing to say, its in essence insinuating the person has been a smart ass.. when you want to compliment, its better to say "give the man a cigar" meaning a prize for doing a job well done.

there may not be this distinction in other places, but i could have taken it wrong.. my point is, always assume the post was meant well until you confirm gwil ahem the poster was intending to be mean.

Ooh yeah, thanks for the PM. I was in a rush at the time but I'll make some now. And sorry for not putting it in the suggestions bit. I know myself how annoying it is when people don't post in the right bits, sorry!

i know that.. think on it a moment though.. when was the last time someone said it, say in a movie or TV show, and meant it in any sense other than derogatory..

i still need to give the editor a try.

I have heard that the editor was crap to use. A person on Vlatitude that texturing was too fusterating and was not worth the time. They said that you actually have to give an angle to each side of a brush then apply a texture to that angle and if isn't just right it all get screwed up.
