it looks a bit like valve have come to the conclusion that all the good multiplayer [HL]games came from the community, so why not just give the community the tools they need and let them get on with it.

I've been wondering for a while why people are going all big aboot this... Couldn't you just make multiplayer maps as if you were making a single player map (With multiple player_starts or something, or player_deathmatch if its on there)?

I believe we will see a Half Life 2 deathmatch in the next year. I don't map for any games other than CS, NS, DoD, Sven-Co-op, or HL SP. So I don't really care that match. We will get many mods that will be great anyways. I will be happy to finally have the capabilities to drive vehicles on enormous levels.
