heres an idea, why doesn't everyone who wants to make a single player mod for HL2 join forces?
i bet if all the people who have posted this same topic, would get together, they could scrounge up enough support to get one... mostly done.
i am not trying to be evil here, but you are posting level 1 mapping problems down in editing, and now you want to make a mod? (a MUCH higher level mapping endeavor)
my advice, and feel free to ignore it totally, learn to map first, after you see just how arduous a task that is, then try mods.

In fairness, there is no way you could get everyone to join forces for
a mod. For example, there is no way I would sacrifice my mod's
storyline or theme, whilst others want to do WW2 and some want horror.
Having said that, I agree that it's too ambitious to start on a mod if
you're new to mapping. Wait a year or so in order to learn the
principles of the engine you're working with so you know what can and
what can't be done. Then you'll have a much better mod.
Nevertheless, best of luck with the mod.

Here's a promising tidbit
"i've started constructing objects like crates and barrels in the map so it's not completely empty."
You really need some more info on that site of yours if you want help. I coudn't find anything about the story, your development plan, or any significant media releases. You need concept art to get people excited about working with you. It may be that making a mod is a good way to learn everything there is to know about mapping, but I'm skeptical that you will produce something worth playing if this is a Learn-as-you-go project.
