Somehow, when I render my map with the light_environment and place it over head above my level, I get no lighting at all. Its almost like a black out but the prop_static are rendering fine.

It doesn't matter where the light_environment is placed in the level
provided it is inside your skybox somewhere. If it isn't lighting up
anything, make sure you have its brightness at a reasonable level.
Other than that...I dunno really.

Perhaps something with the angle of the light? Make sure it shines downwards.

Make sure your sky texture covers all six sides of the sky brush. I've encountered the same problem when I only textured one surface of the brush with the sky texture.

This is obvious and you've probably done it already, but double-check the brightness setting of the light_environment entity.

You need to set the pitch property to be some negative number, so the sun shines down.

<DIV class=quote>
<DIV class=quotetitle>? quote:</DIV>
<DIV class=quotetext>The downward pitch of the light from the sun. 0 is horizontal, -90 is straight down.</DIV></DIV>

try -60 , that works for me, if that doesn't work, it's not the ligths thats causing this, but something else.

exept of you've changed other settings in the properties.

DIABLOBASHER:

see if the black circle in it's properties (the angle thing) is set to
"down", i think that if it's set to down and the has a pitch of -90 ,
witch would be the same as eachother, the bot pitches would diffues
eachother and it would be just horizontal with a 0 pitch again

do you understand... if not, it's ok,

just do not set that black circle thing to down
